The Blog is a Hungry Monster

The Blog is a Hungry Monster May 18, 2016

Whahungry-beastt has happened to your blog Father?

Have you stopped standing on your head?

Has the Suburban Hermit died or just taken a further vow of silence?

Well, the fact of the matter is, blogs are hungry beasts. They need to be fed every day–in fact they want at least three meals a day to really thrive.

And I have what might be called “Blog Burnout”. I have ideas for blog posts, but after ten years of blogging and writing four articles a week for other outlets, I think of the idea and then something else comes up.

I guess, also I’ve been kind of busy. In the last six months I’ve invested a lot of time getting our new church built. Padre is the one  who has to sign off on everything and there are so many details! In addition to this I’ve finished my new book, Praying the Rosary for Spiritual Warfare, led a pilgrimage to Poland, and tried to keep on top of a growing parish and a parish school. There’s also somebody called Mrs Longenecker and four kids.

I’m not complaining. I have a busy, full and happy life.

This pause in blogging has also brought some time for reflection. The blog will soon be going in a different direction. I’ll be producing some video content which will be published on YouTube and linked back to the blog. I’m also planning to kick the Suburban Hermit out of his slumber and continue posting there.

I’ve also started work on a stage play. I’ve now written eighteen books on Catholic apologetics, spirituality, prayer and theology. I think a stage play will be a way forward to do more creative writing, and I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks for all who read the blog faithfully. Stay tuned.
