Let’s Examine President Trump’s Pro-Life Agenda

Let’s Examine President Trump’s Pro-Life Agenda January 20, 2017

So, remember a couple months ago when I mistakenly thought that then-President-elect Trump had taken down his pro-life policies from his campaign website just after winning the election, but it turned out that he’d never had any pro-life policies listed there begin with, we all just figured he had? And I looked incredibly foolish for trusting that he’d ever claimed to be pro-life, and indeed I was very foolish?

Well, now that he’s the Commander in Chief, he’s got a new website. I wanted to be extra careful to research his pro-life agenda on his brand new presidential website myself, instead of taking anyone’s word for it. I searched it, and I documented my search with the cunning use of screenshots. Here’s what I found:

There you have it.

I tried searching ‘pro-life” instead of “abortion” and all I got was the fun fact that Thomas Jefferson was pro-French:

Mais oui.

Next, I looked at his “Issues” page:

I see energy, foreign policy, jobs, military, law enforcement and trade. Quite literally, power, power, money, power, power and money. Nothing about precious unborn babies, unless the unborn babies get arrested for looting or try to move their company’s factory overseas.

Here’s another place where he lists his priorities:

President Trump has six issues and being pro-life ain’t one. They’re all money and power.

I want to draw your attention especially to his “Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement” statement, which I quote in its entirety:

Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community

One of the fundamental rights of every American is to live in a safe community. A Trump Administration will empower our law enforcement officers to do their jobs and keep our streets free of crime and violence. The Trump Administration will be a law and order administration. President Trump will honor our men and women in uniform and will support their mission of protecting the public. The dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America is wrong. The Trump Administration will end it.

The Trump Administration is committed to reducing violent crime. In 2015, homicides increased by 17% in America’s fifty largest cities. That’s the largest increase in 25 years. In our nation’s capital, killings have risen by 50 percent. There were thousands of shootings in Chicago last year alone.

Our country needs more law enforcement, more community engagement, and more effective policing.

Our job is not to make life more comfortable for the rioter, the looter, or the violent disrupter. Our job is to make life more comfortable for parents who want their kids to be able to walk the streets safely. Or the senior citizen waiting for a bus. Or the young child walking home from school.

Supporting law enforcement means supporting our citizens’ ability to protect themselves. We will uphold Americans’ Second Amendment rights at every level of our judicial system.

President Trump is committed to building a border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities. He is dedicated to enforcing our border laws, ending sanctuary cities, and stemming the tide of lawlessness associated with illegal immigration.

Supporting law enforcement also means deporting illegal aliens with violent criminal records who have remained within our borders.

It is the first duty of government to keep the innocent safe, and President Donald Trump will fight for the safety of every American, and especially those Americans who have not known safe neighborhoods for a very long time.

Overlooking the blatant xenophobia for a moment, as if stopping Mexican migrants could stop lawlessness and gangs… It’s interesting that he’s fawning all over law enforcement while at the same time promising to protect the right to bear arms– interesting because, when I learned about such things, I was told that the right to bear arms is in the bill of rights specifically so that we the people might form a militia to protect ourselves from the government– from law enforcement gone tyrannical. This sounds more like he thinks the second amendment defends the right of nervous people to shoot brown people.  He also seems to believe that the purpose of law enforcement is to keep a certain segment of the population intimidated so that other segments of the population may exercise their privilege without fear or pang of conscience.
It is worth mentioning that, as has already been widely reported, I can’t find a thing about civil rights on the website either.

Now, President Trump’s term is just getting started. It may be that he’ll augment his website later with promises to defend life from conception until natural death. But let the record show that on his first day in office, the issues he bothered to place on his website were money and power,  and he didn’t say “abortion” once.

And anyone who gets hurt or killed in his quest to make America, or a certain privileged portion of America, rich and powerful again, can blame the folks who voted for him– including those pious folks who voted for Trump only because they figured he must be pro-life.
