The Winter of Our Discontent, Made Glorious (Again)

Our long national, annual nightmare is over, at last. (OK, so maybe it’s just my long, annual, national nightmare. But either way, it’s over.)

The rebuilt front office retooled the Dodgers roster over the winter and now it’s time for the players to take over, as pitchers and catchers reported Thursday for Spring Training at Camelback Ranch-Glendale.

The first workout for batteries will be Friday. Position players are due to report next Wednesday, with the first full-squad workout next Thursday and the opening exhibition game scheduled for Wednesday, March 4.

Every year, I’m pleased anew by the fact that Spring Training and Lent exist in such close proximity to one another. There’s something very fitting about that, in my book.
