SVS: “Ernest & Celestine”

SVS: “Ernest & Celestine” May 29, 2015

ernest_et_celestine_ver3_xxlgI’m too busy chasing after my kids (and watching ’em sunburn) to compose a proper Streaming Video post this week. Instead, I’m just going to toss a name out there and call it good. A name that comes from my kids (and their better-than-expected taste in animated films), come to think of it. So this whole post is their fault.

Ernest & Celestine is streaming on AMAZON PRIME, or can be rented from THE USUALS. And it’s super-duper charming. Not quite as laid back (or quite as quiet) as the whimsical animation style might suggest, but don’t be judging a book by its cover, now. That’s my job. (Somehow, I’d forgotten that E&C’s creators were the directorial masterminds behind the sort-of crazy A Town Called Panic. So expecting it to be sedate was my over-hasty over-simplification, not their false advertising. My bad.)

Academy Award Nominee (Best Animated Feature) and featuring the voices of Forest Whitaker, Mackenzie Foy, and more! This is the gorgeously animated story of an unlikely friendship between a bear, Ernest, and a mouse named Celestine.

I especially loved the world-building, and the strange symbiosis between the two species. (The idea of having the mice rely on the bears for their…teeth? Awesome.)

Looking for a real (or should I say “Reel”) review that still perfectly bite-sized? Check out SDG. And I second his challenge: I dare you to watch this one without smiling.

TTFN.
