Since God is never outdone in generosity…

I thought I would give everyone a chance to be a little bit generous and then sit back and await the blessings! :-)

If you’re in the mood to think globally, and if you trust the men and women of our military to point out where the need is greatest (I do), you might want to participate in Spirit of America’s “Blogger Challenge.” A tip of the hat to Roger L Simon and you can scurry right over there and make a donation, if you’re in the mood, or you can go to my own donation page here, and donate. I’ll kick it off with $50.00! If you want to dash off a check, you can do it right now, and send it thusly:

Send checks payable to Spirit of America
12021 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 558
Los Angeles, CA 90025
It doesn’t matter to me who gets the credit, so long as the dough is ponied up! But if you’d like a nice thank you note from me, Please write “The Anchoress” in your check’s memo area and note your e-mail address on your check.

If you’re thinking more locally, the monks at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA are making an unusual, specific request for donations to help defray their health-management costs (you have to scroll down a little to find the story, but it’s worth it just to read these gentle monks correct the press on four key points of their news coverage). It seems that while the bonsai and fruitcake and fudge go a long way in sustaining this house of prayer, the (as our friend Joe Marshall would call it) spiraling cost of medical care is raising some havoc for the gents. Again, if you don’t want to add to your waistline, you don’t need a bonsai tree and you’d simply like to be generous in the Holiday season, you can send a check:

Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery
2625 Highway 212 S.W.
Conyers, GA 30094-4044
Lastly, but along the same line, there is a lovely bunch of young Dominican Religious women – teachers, no less – whose numbers are growing at a headspinning pace. Founded under the mighty John Cardinal O’ Connor in 1997, this gang has grown from 4 to 44 and they need a motherhouse and chapel. Checks are always answered with a lovely note and a promise of prayers on your behalf, and who doesn’t like that? Okay, a few of my left-leaning readers may not like that, but let them pray for you, anyway. What could it hurt? :-) Send a check here:
Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist
4597 Warren Road
Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105
You can believe me when I say this, because I know it’s true. God is never outdone in generosity. Or, if you don’t like that…good begets good. Go to it! If you’ve got something to be grateful about, share the gratitude! :-)
