Listen to Compline at the Abbey

This is really nice – an mp3 of the office of Compline (the prayer which closes the day before a monastery retires for the night and for Silence) from the monks at the Monastery of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit, in Conyers, Georgia. It was recorded last Saturday, April 16, 2005.

Compline is shorter than either Lauds or Vespers – it is comprised of shorter, easier to memorize psalms, and Simeon’s prayer.

Thank you, Anchoress. I especially love when we ask that, “our seeds sown by our labours today grow and yield an eternal Harvest.” I love prayer when spoken in Earthen tones.I’ll use tis again.

Anchoress, James, calls himself Monkcraft on, has visited my site. I visit his for the wonderful pictures he puts on his site. He writes good stuff at times too. I wish he would write more to go with his pictures.
Thanks for the post. I love to read the prayers of the Catholic Church and feel the way they embrace the Scriptures within them. And I love to hear good singing or chanting from the monks, they touch my soul.
