Am being kicked around with a stomach bug, but I thought that image was the best and most succinct comment on President Obama’s incessant gloom-and-dooming, “it’s a catastrophe!” (It’s a recession you’re talking into a catastrophe, sir).
I cribbed it from The Other McCain, who also has a very good round up of blogger reactions to the presser, so check him out.
Earlier today I glanced at an Althouse thread – I’m sorry I can’t remember which – and someone cleverly quoted from the musical Evita:
“And the money kept rolling in from every side
Eva’s pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that’s not the point my friends”“When the money keeps rolling out you don’t keep books
You can tell you’ve done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down, figures get in the way
Never been a [President] loved as much as [Barack Obama]”
A few other links you may not have seen before I go die some more…
Althouse liveblogged. As always her commenters make for a riveting and lively thread.
Bush’s so-called “war crimes”: Hard to prosecute ‘em if Obama’s going to do the same thing. Can you hear the White House spin-meisters? “Uh-oh! We’ll need new language, here! The old ‘fascist nazi policy of Chimpy BushHitler’ will have to be recast as the ‘regrettable but wise and brave Obama policy that created or saved 3 Million to 4 Million Jobs Lives.’ Yeah, that’s it. Get a note out to Pravda MSNBC and Rahm, make sure you mention it to Stephanopolis and Carville! Call Keller and tell him to put it front page, above the fold in 7-point baloney italics: RENDITION IS MERCY! WAR IS PEACE! TAXES ARE PATRIOTISM, EXCEPT WHEN I APPOINT TAX CHEATS and LOBBYISTS NEED LOVE TOO.
Er, and forget the saving those 3-4 Million Lives part. Puppies. Talk about puppies!”
She’s my sister! And my daughter!: It’s pork-free! And full of tasty, tasty pork – all for you!.
Yes, I suspect it is easier to be the opposition than to lead. But if you really want to “rule” rather than merely “lead,” I’m sure you can find a way.
It’s a global recession: That much is clear? How long does Obama get to blame everything on Bush, and to what extent? Hearing him say he “inherited” a huge deficit does not make it clear to me how – in just two weeks – is doubling or tripling it makes everything better.
Health Care in the stimulus: sorry, I never want to be that intimate with the government
You don’t end wars…you win them or lose them. Which, btw, no one is mentioning it but…THERE IS A STUNNING VICTORY IN IRAQ which cannot be mentioned because it happened without the Democrats on board.
Sorry, sorry, but these questions will continue to be asked: What WOULD they have said if Bush had done this?
Giving the term “census-taker” a whole new meaning

I actively opposed Hillary in the primaries in order to defeat, once and for all, the corrosive evil that is Clintonism. Unfortunately, it appears that Clintonism is alive and well in the Obama Administration. Almost everything we hear coming out of his mouth, and the mouths of those in the Administration, is deceitful and disingenuous spin and distortion. And, like for most of the Clinton Administration, no one from Pravda or Tass is going to call him on it, ever.
Here is the Question That Wasn’t Asked in last night’s presser: “Mr. President, you said in your campaign that you would scrutinize the budget “line by line” to eliminate wasteful spending. How do you now justify to the Ameican people such items as water parks, ATV trails, bee research and money to school districts with declining student enrollments, empty buildings and no plans for expansion?”
Just watching him squirm while attempting to answer would have made the press conference so much more enjoyable.
BTW, get well soon.
Hope you are feeling better.
Daily, this administration reminds me of an Orwellian-style novel as composed by a not-very-good situation comedy writer.
I blanched a bit at that “inherited a trillion dollar deficit” line. I distinctly recall Bush working with Obama to get the funds that make up much of that deficit released quickly as Obama wanted in part so that Obama did not have to address it right out of the gate. Now it’s an “inherited” deficit.
How very Soviet Politboro of him.
Oh goody. In one mega-pork bill Congress just debased the dollar by about 2%. And they’re just getting started.
Obama is very Politburo…he is a master of euphemism and doublespeak.
The “Evita” lyrics are perfect for what is going on right now. After he won the election, I immediately thought of the line “we are all workers now; fighting against our common enemy….” Scary times indeed.
How many times do we have to relive history? Since when has it been proven that “Reaganomics” don’t work? I heard that the other day from some Democratic commentator the other day.
