WYD, Madrid 2011 Awesome Sauce!

Chills! Chills to hear that baritone voice again, and to see these youthful crowds.

Chills to realize that Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI have drawn millions of young people to them with the message they so need to hear: You are good. You are loved. You are created for a purpose. You are more than the pop culture. You are greater than the temptations of the age. You are the ongoing affirmation of unique individualism. Jesus loves you, he calls you. Do Not Be Afraid.

I’ll be there with about 40 students from Boston College!

Tim, what a blessing for you to be joining all those who will share this time with the Holy Father! Has your group picked a patron saint? Váyanse al Madrid, jóvenes! Go with our prayers….

Hearing the voices of our Holy Fathers stirs the heart. You can hear in them so much love.

BTW, is the video’s soundtrack familiar to anyone? Would love to know more about it.

I second Anchoress’s comments re JP II. I first saw him in 1987 in the Nervi, and he strode out like a heavyweight champion in his prime raising his palms up and down. I could not have been more impressed. I loved the way he spoke English.

Then I saw him 10 years later on Madison Avenue and the transformation was hard to see. He was much, much older looking and looked tremendously fatigued.

Pope John Paul II lives on in every World Youth Day. Let us pray that the spirit in which this was started never falters.

The fruits of these youth days has been an explosion of young people who agree with Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI into relgious life. Convents and seminaries are seeing a strong base of conservative Catholics which was timed perfectly with the review of the seminaries and religious orders by the Vatican to insure they are in line with Catholic Church teaching. Of course those orders on the left are not seeing the influx. It is a new springtime in the Catholic Church.

I remember hearing him once exclaim in that great voice, ‘True love eees pur-i-ty! Purity eees true love!’ It was the polar opposite of the world’s message.

  • Manny

It was wonderfcul to hear that voice again! I got the same chills.

Absolutely thrilling. God is moving so powerfully through His faithful who are willing to suffer for the Truth. Young people recognize the greatness of this power, this Truth, and they will have nothing less.

  • JPIIWeLoveYou!

LOVED hearing the lionhearted JPII!!! Both myself and my mom cried we miss him so much. We love love love our beloved BXVI, but JPII was our Papa for so long. Thank you for posting that. Now, it is great to see the Catholics catching up with technology. That was a heartwarming and snazzy ad for World Youth Day! We’re too old and we’re ready to pack our bags!

Such beautiful faces. Christ shines through in each one. Watching that fills me with more joy than I know how to bear. Brings me to my knees. I keep coming back again and again to listen to that voice…
