The difference goes beyond the pitch

I see I was not the only one watching last night's All-Star Game who wondered if David Axelrod had negotiated the bizarre angle (there is no other word for it, if you're a baseball-watching fan) used to showcase President Barack Obama's ceremonial "first pitch." I have never seen a president throw a pitch, before, where the angle left out the catcher at the plate.Yes, I had to wonder if the shot was planned that way, if the White House was so insecure about this teleprompter-addicted … [Read more...]

The Suckling Press; Obama "sort of god" – UPDATED

Graphic and more at Nice Deb'sEvan Thomas, that bellwether of media obsequiousness, who once (accurately) predicted that the Democrat-loving press would give John Kerry "10 to 15% points" in his race fo the White House, has declared that President Obama is "sort of god". Chris Matthews, who would suckle Obama's manboobs, if only Obama would lactate for him, can be heard saying "yeah," in the background.I've always told you they thought Obama a godling. Now, they've admitted it.Our press … [Read more...]

Fun Game, Oratory Page & other stuff

Fun Game: Google "Obama agrees with Bush on Plame" & count the news outlets covering it. ZERO. unless you're looking at stuff from 2005, in which case you'll find tons of articles from Time, Newsweek and the rest decrying the "outting" of a Langley desk jockey; another of those "great moral imperative" stories that seem, well, so unimportant, now that Obama is president. My New Idea: An Oratory Page. Once this promised site re-do actually happens (and a get a few projects out of the way) I … [Read more...]

There go 150,000 jobs!

I'm not entirely sure the president hasn't reached outside of the scope of his job in setting emission standards - oh, what am I talking about - Obama is the Imperial President; the scope of his job extends to any place he says it does! He can do anything he wants to; (cuz he won) and the press won't complain. If he wants to come over to your house tomorrow and inspect your pantry shelves to make sure you're getting enough vitamin C and not too much fat, they'll be championing him for it. … [Read more...]

Is Obama trying to Lead or to Rule?

So, to no one's surprise, it looks like the US Government is going into the car business, something our founders certainly never intended.I keep watching Obama and wondering if he is trying to lead America to further greatness, or to simply bring her to heel? There is an absolute disconnect between what Obama says, and what he does. In his first 100 days he said he had "no interest" in running the banking and auto industries in this country, even as his hand crept out and snatched both under … [Read more...]

I like this vid & link-around

Like this video which I found at Deacon Greg's Place, which I hope you peek in on every day!Do you remember when you were a kid, and you'd want to bring a book with you to supper, and your mother would yell at you to get the book off the table and then give you an Irish love-tap with the back of her left hand so that your head would snap back and hit the wall, and the wedding band would leave a mark on your forehead? No? Oh. That's how I remember it! Anyway...I knew there was a reason I … [Read more...]

More Ice storm & More

The severe ice storm that has crippled parts of the midwest and devastated Kentucky is getting a little more attention from the press than it has since last Tuesday, when the storm hit. This is the Monday after.Time Magazine writes a professional-sounding piece that is completely devoid of emotion, mentions President Obama exactly once (in passive voice) and never ever strays into unfair wonderings such as "why isn't more being done," or "where is the President, why isn't he present here," or … [Read more...]

Obama: Yeah, Iraq war caused the hate…

Lots of people writing about Obama's interview with al-Arabiya. Some are angry that he gave his first presidential interview to a news agency outside of the US. I don't care much about that - the man's entitled to speak to whomever he wants - but some of Obama's answers seem to me just a bit disoriented or perhaps I should say purposely disorienting.Obama does not come out and say it, he merely agrees with the dishonest framing by his interviewer - video and partial transcript here:AL … [Read more...]
