Fake, fake, fake

I wonder if we'll see his fakeness on page one, above the fold now that it is clear he is a fake.Ron Harris asks, Why did the press swallow Massey's stories?.Editors at some papers look back at the Massey articles and are surprised that they ran them without examining whether the claims were true or without ever asking the Marine Corps about them."I'm looking at the story and going, 'Why, why would we have run this without getting another side of the story?'" said Lois Wilson, managing … [Read more...]

U.S. Forces Kill #2 Terrorist in Iraq

Pentagon says a top Zarqawi Aide is dead, thanks to US Special Forces. You know, Special Forces, like Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon.Azzam is the latest in a series of top Zarqawi deputies that have been killed or captured by coalition forces in recent months. Zarqawi's Al Qaeda in Iraq (search) group has taken responsibility for some of the country's most horrific acts of terror including car bombings, kidnappings and beheadings of Iraqi civilians and westerners.Earlier this month Zarqawi, … [Read more...]

Fallujah is rebuilding

One of my doc's sons is serving in Fallujah right now, and he confirms all of this sort of news as written by Michael Fumento:"The city is slowly rebuilding and returning to life. Some report that it's now the safest city in the Sunni Triangle due to the heavy presence of Iraqi police and army. Every major intersection now has unarmed Iraqi police directing traffic in crisp short-sleeve button down shirts, white gloves, black flack vests, and dark blue pants. More frequently we're responding … [Read more...]

Soldiers and more Soldiers

Real quick because I have a loaded-up day that starts with carting Buster around, then an MRI, then I'm putting together a birthday party for elderson's g/f (she wants Lasagna! Lasagna!) and then more stuff is going on - but I wanted to point out three pieces focusing on soldiers, today, mostly because you probably won't see or hear much about them in the MSM:1)The Recruitment numbers are better than the press would have us believe. One of the most significant stories of the summer is … [Read more...]

The big pictures in Iraq?

This is excellent, by Katherine Kersten via Irish Pennants. The Crawford campout is a quintessential media event. Its purpose is to gain attention for a small group of people, far out of proportion to their numbers or their knowledge of conditions in Iraq. While protesters win headlines, soldiers with on-the-ground experience have no forum to express their strong support for our cause there. The major media's love affair with the Crawford protest is no surprise. It's consistent with the focus … [Read more...]

Well, they’ve got their 1971

Sometimes it becomes necessary to state the obvious: being a soldier is a dangerous thing. . . . Even in peacetime. The media's breathless tabulation of casualties in Iraq--now, over 1,800 deaths--is generally devoid of context. Here's some context: between 1983 and 1996, 18,006 American military personnel died accidentally in the service of their country. That death rate of 1,286 per year exceeds the rate of combat deaths in Iraq by a ratio of nearly two to one. - Powerline BlogThe Walter … [Read more...]

Oh, you’re not interesting, sorry

I read this and it reminded me of what I heard as I was driving today. Flipping channels I fell on Sean Hannity, whom I do not ordinarily listen to (way too yappy and repetetive). What caught my ear was his condolence to a gentleman who said he had buried his son at Arlington in May. Hannity was talking to a man and a woman, both of whom have lost their sons in Iraq. And they said that they have been contacted by msm to discuss their loss, "but they're always disappointed to discover that we … [Read more...]

Unusual recruits, unusual article

Leonard Wood, Mo. Princeton University senior Ross Williams, 21, is finalizing his plans to check out of the Ivy League and into the Marine Corps.
