Coakley – Warren Candidacies Speak Poorly of MA Dems – UPDATED

This article is calling Elizabeth Warren's senate run against Scott Brown a wreck, and I'm pretty sure that's an accurate take. She really is an awful candidate. What's most interesting to me about her candidacy, though, is how thoroughly it demonstrates the disdain that the Democrat leadership in Massachusetts has for its own party members outside of the Ivy Class. For the second election in a row, Massachusetts Dems have been so sloppily careless about who should fill "Ted Kennedy's … [Read more...]

“Cool”: You keep using that word… UPDATE

obama-bike12-e1300578899347

Apparently, in reaction to the reality that the youth vote is fading on Obama, a memo has gone out from the campaign to the mainstream media, Democrat operatives, Hollywood moneybags, and all the ships at sea. It's message was succinct: "Obama Hip, Cool! Romney Square. Peace-and-Drones Out, Daddy-O." Do an internet search of "Obama cool" this morning and there is an embarrassment of riches: The New Yorker: Mr. Cool; Obama and the Hip Factor Chris Cillizza at the WaPo didn't even break … [Read more...]

Elizabeth Warren: Southie in her Heart! UPDATED!

southie

Holy Smokes, but what a staggering fraud Elizabeth Warren is. I am almost embarrassed for her, and it's probably good that someone is embarrassed for her, since she seems incapable of feeling it for herself: Last week, news broke that Harvard Law had cited Warren as a minority hire — a Native American — when it was under criticism for lack of faculty diversity in 1996. Asked Friday for proof of her Indian ancestry, Warren’s said it’s part of her family “lore.” She also said … [Read more...]

Hilary Rosen, Ann Romney and the Credentialists – UPDATES

Rosen Romney

Although I use it during the day mostly to promote Patheos writers, after hours I consider Twitter to be something of a virtual pub; it's a place to wind down, engage in some casual conversation, yell about baseball and then say goodnight. Last evening, I tootled in to find the tweets flying fast and um, furiously. "Wha'd I miss?" I asked someone. It seems lobbyist and Dem operative Hilary Rosen had gone on CNN last night and spoken unwisely not once, but twice, first declaring that the … [Read more...]

BHO: Mr. Spontaneity – UPDATED

Seems to me he's having a hard time hiding his anger. And the angrier he gets, the more he struggles. Any creature trapped in a net knows that flailing about only further ensnares. No-Drama Obama needs to chill; if he can't relax, he's toast. He's just reading. It's just words. He's not feeling any of it. Meanwhile, I can hear Michael McDonald singing "takin' it to the street!" When you're not equipped to deal with realities, and reason has fled, all that's left are … [Read more...]

Trayvon and Zimmerman: A “good faith” breakdown?

trayvon zimmerman

In the comboxes, someone wondered earlier today why I had not written anything about the killing of Trayvon Martin by a "neighborhood watch" volunteer named George Zimmerman. Since I don't watch the news or read papers anymore, I only became aware of it yesterday, and it seems the political world was slow to come to it, too. It's a dreadful story; my heart cannot help but go out to the family of Trayvon Martin, and my prayer is that this case gets a thorough and honest investigation which … [Read more...]

Lies, Cynicism and the Spin Cycle – UPDATED

Quit church

The intellectual dishonesty of the hysterical and adolescent tract below is staggering. It is a full-page ad in the NY Times. In a transparent (and largely successful) bid to keep the electorate distracted and the conversation off his numerous dubious policies and practices, January's cynical move by the Obama Administration, helped along by an equally cynical and mostly-surrendered press, has delivered two profound lies -- the first is that the HHS mandate battle being waged by the churches … [Read more...]

Dear Press: The Seniors Don’t Believe You Anymore

Yesterday we talked a little about the dialogue between David Gregory and Newt Gingrich, and I wrote: Our “free press” is no longer free. It’s becoming more like Pravda — the house organ for the party to which it is enthralled — every day. If you look at the Gingrich/Gregory exchange from that perspective, then that was a pretty remarkable segment. Sometimes, what someone in the press does not say, or where they do not interrupt is as telling as what they bellow. I don't know … [Read more...]

No, David Gregory is not a Hack

I'm seeing a lot of remarks on Twitter about this exchange between Newt Gingrich and David Gregory this morning. I'm seeing people saying Newt "schooled" David Gregory; that he "took it to" Gregory and so forth, but Gregory lets Gingrich speak for nearly two full minutes, uninterrupted, and in doing so he allows Gingrich to point out all of the issues that are going undiscussed, everyday, while the Democrats and the media promote the absolutely false narrative that anyone is trying to ban … [Read more...]

Chris Matthews and his Trained Baboons

I couldn't believe the headline so I had to see it for myself and yeah, Chris Matthews actually said this: “There are a number of people who have chosen to convert to the Catholic faith because they don”t like the liberal positions taken by their sectarian groups,” said Matthews, “that’s a fact, you can write that down. . . .I’m saying that some people who are bigoted against gay people have changed religions, yes." This is a guy who profoundly misunderstands his own faith and … [Read more...]
