    That “icon” is an attempt to portray the Holy Trinity as one God in three Persons. Such images, though uncommon, were more likely to be found in the Balkans rather than Russia. Needless to say, such a depiction is contrary to Orthodox iconographic canon.

    This ‘icon’ is actually more common in Catholic circles than the Orthodox. Especially in Latin America, where it was called the Trinidad Trifacial.
