today I smiled …

… I caught myself singing in the shower this morning for the first time in over a month; it made me smile. I lost 16 lbs this month; that also made me smile. Kids love punk rock; it’s good for burning off all that extra energy… mine especially loves minor threat and operation ivy.

…speaking of music; Firefox has an add-on call fire.fm.

16 lbs in one month! wow! I guess that explains the nightmares.

“I can’t keep up, I can’t keep up, I can’t keep up! Out of step, with the woooorrrrlllldddd!”Woah! Minor Threat is one of my most favorite bands ever! Brings back memories of skateboarding as a kid.I still have their entire discography (which fits on one audio CD).I once caught a documentary of them and the straight edge movement on USA network’s Night Flight which was pretty amazing.(However, I never could get into Fugazi. They should have let Ian sing more instead of that guy with the really annoying singing style.)

Yeah. Punk rock is so great that my daughter even though she became a mother at 16–emulating some of the “music” she was listening to–still dresses in what looks like Salvation Army rejects, while throwing away $800 of “normal” school clothing. Her brother seems to have forgotten polite English and respect for parents and others, while listening to stuff that would not have been recorded, much less broadcast, just a few years ago. Both have determined to “never go to church again”, parroting virtually every counterculture “reason” they have evern heard.

well, I guess I don’t have to worry about that Dino seeing as how music is not my son’s only cultural experience and he has other role models to look to for character growth.

    Ironic, congratulations!

Congrats on the 16 lbs. Keep up the good work — I’ve just started a fitness program with a trainer myself, so let’s make a deal. You pray for me, and I’ll pray for you. Losing weight is tough, especially when you have a very broad lazy streak as I do. And did I mention I love food? That’s why I’m requesting prayer!Regards from Canada,Patricia Gonzalez
