National Tequila Day…

… In honor of National Tequila Day I am offering readers a rare glimpse at my home altar. Whaaaaat?!?

So do you drink it straight, like a real man or in a froo-froo mixed drink like a little girl?

    To answer your question, yes.

  • Gregg the Obscure

I respect that Herradura front and center.

What about those of us who mix tequila with something stronger?

    • Sacredcrocheter

      You’re all going to hell.

Froo froo all the way. I have never done a shot of tequila b/c no one will do one with me. All of my friends are women. Even the men, are women.

How I drink it depends on the caliber of the tequila!   ;-)

I thought Tequila Day was Cinco de mayo???

If you consider a margarita froo-froo – then call me a poodle and get me a leash. I don’t drink much, but I do like a margarita from time to time.

And Mean Lizzie, me & you will have to try that shot sometime.

I drank tequila once, in 1987. That was enough to cure me for life of the stuff. It was some sort of cheap Aztec brand or motif, fed to me mostly in shots by a bunch of Sig Chis who adopted me as their bartender and mascot during one of those weekends where high school kids check out potential colleges. They thought I was a blast until the tunnel vision eliminated all depth perception and I started pouring drinks down guy’s shirts or the floor rather than their glasses. It was like looking through the wrong end of binoculars.

One of them dragged me back to a dorm and let me collapse in a chair to “Dark Side of the Moon.” I was hungover for two full days after that, shaking like a malarial victim. Deadly stuff, tequila. I was not a lightweight at the time. I was able to survive an entire bottle of mad dog at a sitting plus more, but tequila was toxic. The mere scent of it to this day is like nails on a chalk board. People  tell me it would be different if I tried one of the top shelf brands, but I’ll pass. If tequila was the only booze left, I’d go on the wagon permanently, or else resort to some cleaner buzz, like huffing spray paint out of an old sock!

Whaaaat?? It was National Tequila Day and I MISSED it?!?!  Rats.

  • Ad Orientem

No me gusta el tequila. I don’t drink like I used to anymore. But if I’m hitting the hard stuff it’s either scotch (single malt) or bourbon. And yes, I drink it straight.
