    Happy birthday to The Boy!

Thanks for the litany, Katrina — I’ll use it for our Family RCIA chapel time on Sunday!

I made my first King’s Day cake today. It turned out to look very much like the picture in the recipe I found on the net. I was tempted to go the old fashioned route and use a bean or piece of hard candy to represent the Christ Child. Caved and stuck in a plastic baby right before I decorated. It is nice to know that you are making your own too. Let us know how it turns out, please.

And Happy Birthday to your son.

I only finished “The Book Thief” because I was too far gone to just quit in the middle. It seemed like an endless painful experience (reading it, that is…I was incredibly relieved when one of the main characters finally died). An irritating and poorly constructed book. In my opinion, it deserves none of the high praise it’s received. Save yourself the trouble.

The Book Thief is a REALLY good book. You’ll enjoy it I think.
