Who Wants To Join Me In A Novena…

... Alright folks, here is where I need your help. I figure if I can get enough people praying this novena for me to pass my exam, it has to get somebody's attention upstairs. My final exam is in less than two weeks, so what better time to start the novena to St. Cupertino, patron saint of struggling, witless students, than now?St. Cupertino, pray for me.O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the … [Read more...]

When prayer seems pointless…

The most frustrating thing I find about praying is it's lack of immediate results. Or rather, what I perceive as a lack of results. I've gotten so accustomed to instantaneous feedback that when I don't see the fruits of prayer right away I become frustrated. Then there is praying for your enemies. In most cases "enemies" are just your typical run of the mill jerk faces one encounters on any given day. On her death bed she had a full reversion back to the faith and died under the watchful gaze of her two favorite images. It's in her memory that I am participating in the novena to the Sacred Heart that starts today.Sacred Heart of Jesus Novena … [Read more...]

50 Ways to Talk to God is Blowing My Mind…

... Whenever I hear the phrase, "personal relationship with Christ", I immediately have evangelical flashbacks -- complete with hand waving, tongue speaking, and emotionally weeping. All set to the soundtrack of bad, romantically ambiguous Christian soft rock.Maybe that's why so many converts I know have such an adverse reaction to a little charismatic in their Catholicism.Enter Meg Hunter-Kilmer and her excellent post about getting personal with Christ. Yes, I said "excellent." … [Read more...]
