... Want to know how you can do your very own personal part in increasing vocations? It's easy really ... 1) Never speak ill of a priest in the presence of a child 2) Always pray. Include your priest and diocesan seminarians in your daily prayer 3) Tell someone you think they'd make an excellent priest or religious sister Oh, there are other ways too; for sure. But I've found these are the most doable for the majority of folks. Simple and effective. Just be encouraging of the … [Read more...]

... Did you know that January 13 - 19 is National Vocation Awareness Week? NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to … [Read more...]

... I have tremendous respect for our religious. I mean, that lifestyle is not for wussies. Catholicism is punk rock, y'all. I stayed with a community for 2 weeks once and after the second day I was nothing more than a lazy presence floating about their halls, showing up for noon prayers and only reappearing hours later at Vespers. And bored. Lord, was I bored. But not those gals; up at 3:30 am praying and milking cows and doing chores and praying some more. I was exhausted just watching them … [Read more...]

... Complete with flowing black robes - super hero style. "COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 12, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Seminarians from the only Pontifical College in the U.S. have an awe-inspiring approach for confronting abortion head-on. Dressed in full regalia of a black cassock, a traditional red sash, and armed with a rosary, the seminarians descend in a powerful show of force every Saturday on a local abortion facility to confront with prayer what the seminary’s rector calls the … [Read more...]
I do not pretend to believe that the US is eternal. Like all nations from our past, there will come a time this country will cease to exist. I believe we are upon that time. The only eternal organization that has survived the rise and fall of empires is the Catholic Church. She has endured and will continue to do so until the coming of Christ. America as we know it is swiftly changing into a tolatarian anti-religious country. We've learned nothing from countries destroyed by Socialism, … [Read more...]

... I hear this question every now and then. I wonder, but highly doubt it. I'm not a consecrated single person so being single, in my opinion, is not a vocation. I just sort of ended up in this state through various life circumstances but I never actively sought to be single. I think most singles are like me in this aspect. When I think "vocation" I don't think of some transitory or temporary state, which I hope and pray my singleness is. So I ascertain that being an unconsecrated single … [Read more...]
