how to not write like you’re crazy…

... unless you are crazy. Then I can't help you because there's no hiding crazy. Mrs. Fisher has an excellent piece that includes tips on writing well. Most of her advice is for those intelligible writers who write professionally. Or at least the bloggers and writers who aspire to be regarded as such and whose goal is reader comprehension. I have no such aspirations. Obviously. The best advice is her final advice; "If you find yourself using emoticons, chop your hands off." I've discussed this … [Read more...]

Carolina cooking …

... Look, every one knows I'm no kitchen connoisseur, but at least I try from time to time. It's not every night I have cereal and a vodka tonic for dinner. I also know there's no shortage in the niche of Catholic Cooking on the interwebs; Father Z has dibs on the fancified food fair and Jimmy Akin has dibs on the low carb healthy stuff. My favorite, The Catholic Foodie, is the more realistic of the two... in that it's stuff I can actually make and it's stuff I'd actually eat. And for those who … [Read more...]

kids make awesome little servants…

... so my son asked me for an allowance the other day. I asked him where he learned such a foul loathsome word and, of course, he said he learned it at school. Rotten public school children and their corrupting wicked ideas! I hear the hum of the central air conditioning unit. I also hear the buzzing … [Read more...]

required reading after all…

... OSV's announces their "picks for the best Catholic places to go on the Web, along with OSV readers’ choices of must-visit websites and blogs." Did you read that? "best" Catholic places. "must-visit websites". Now that I am all famous and junk, I think it's time I published a tell-all book. But it begs the questions; where was RealCatholicTV on the list? And why is Geerling the only one with the head shot? … [Read more...]
