'We're Christian, we love everyone', says anti-gay baker

'We're Christian, we love everyone', says anti-gay baker December 26, 2017

Californian baker Cathy Miller, above, is at the centre of yet another controversy over weddings cakes for same-sex couples.
Her refusal to meet the requirements of gay patrons received a great deal of publicity in August, and later California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) filed a “surprise” motion for a temporary restraining order which would have forced Miller to create wedding cakes for LGBT couples or not sell them at all at her Tastries shop.
Miller was given less than 12 hour to prepare a defence against the motion.

Said Charles LiMandri, above, President and Chief Counsel for the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund (FCDF):

This unprofessionalism is just another example of the LGBT activists and their government allies’ crusade to crush Cathy because of her Christian beliefs.

He added:

It’s no coincidence that the DFEH’s new attack on Cathy comes as the Supreme Court weighs the similar case of cake artist Jack Phillips in Colorado. The assault on religious liberty and the freedom of conscience is simply astounding. But neither Cathy nor we are backing down– the freedom of all Americans is at stake.

Back in 2015, he described the gay rights movement as engaging in “spiritual warfare” and an “evil that is being inflicted on society.”
Miller had earlier said:

We’re Christian, we love everyone. God created everyone– we love everyone. But there’s certain things that violate my conscience. And my conscience will not allow me to participate in things that I feel are wrong. And most of what’s based on is Scripture. I don’t feel as though I should be picked on because of my beliefs.

Miller says she has received hate mail and threats since this all began in August.
According to FCDF the judge denied the restraining order because he had not had a chance to hear Miller’s account of what happened.

Gee, what she ‘feels,’ and ‘most of what’s based on is Scripture'(sic).
Basically a blank check for any bigotry she supports this week.

“But there’s certain things that violate my conscience. And my conscience will not allow me to participate in things that I feel are wrong. And most of what’s [sic] based on is Scripture”.
Maybe you shouldn’t try to make a living by selling things to the public, then. Perhaps you should only sell things to fellow god-botherers. Let’s see how that works out.

Focus Jesus infected people on what you do best, that is hate, with a capital.

Christians “love people” because the Bible supposedly tells them to. Big deal. I think my morality has firmer foundations than theirs.

“Cake artist”? How did he manage to say that with a straight face?
Unfortunately there’s a real chance that the doofus in Colorado will win, given the right-wing extremists that now populate SCOTUS. Our only hope is that someone like Kennedy will become so disgusted with Gorsuch’s infantile preening that he actually votes against his own tribe.

Laura: Did you read the following article?
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-judges-appointments-right-wing-seats-nominees-2017-a8118801.html
With the US Senate’s confirmation of a 12th circuit court judge earlier this month, Mr Trump set a record for the most appellate judges confirmed in a president’s first year. His predecessor, former President Barack Obama, was able to get three confirmed during his first year as President.
Each nomination seems to be aimed at shifting the US’s judiciary system ideologically to the right. And the administration’s ability to have gotten so many of its appellate nominees confirmed is particularly important given that appellate courts are where thousands of cases in the federal courts meet their ends because they will never make it onto the Supreme Court’s limited docket.

Not disastrous yet, but moving very quickly.

Someone commented to me recently that Trump hasn’t accomplished much in his first year. My response was that while he’s only got one bill passed, he’s already done incalculable damage through his horrific judicial appointments, executive orders and attempts to ravage public lands.
Trump seems hell-bent on destroying America. I won’t be the least surprised to hear one day that he plans to dismantle the Statue of Liberty and melt its skin for the copper. His sycophants will crow about eradicating French sculpture from American shores. American news outlets will cover the story briefly, but to avoid criticism, at least half of their commentary will revolve around America’s sudden and desperate need for copper.

Laura: He’s got America 1.5 TRILLION dollars further in hock to line the pockets of his rich chums. Why shouldn’t he feel pleased with himself? No wonder Fox is singing his praises:
