A Kingdom Revolutionary Gathering & a Conference on Doubt (Greg Boyd)

A Word About a Revolutionary Network Meeting

There is a growing movement of pastors, church planters, and churches around the globe who have become convinced that the center of the Gospel is a Jesus-looking God who calls his people to partner with him to advance a Jesus-looking kingdom.  They sense that God is pouring out “new kingdom wine” that is bursting apart the tired old wineskins of Christendom. They sense we are at the cusp of a rising kingdom revolution that is going to radically alter what people identity as “the Christian faith” and “the Church.”  The majority of these leaders are both encouraged and discouraged. They are encouraged by the Jesus-looking kingdom revolution they see rising up,  but discouraged by the lack of networking and partnership amongst others who share their convictions.

As we have been praying and talking, we feel that God has called us in some capacity to begin calling together these leaders for the purpose of friendship and discernment. Therefore, if you count yourself as a leader or potential future leader in this rising revolution,  we invite you to join us on Saturday, September 28, for a time of fellowship and prayer as we have the opportunity to meet one another, pray together, and further discern God’s heart.

Woodland Hills Church will be hosting a ReKnew Conference on September 27-28, entitled “Faith, Doubt and the Idol of Certainty.” The conference ends on Saturday afternoon and all conference attendees are invited to stay for the 5:00 pm worship service at WHC. Following the service, at 6:30 pm, there will be a coffee and dessert gathering for all pastors, church planters, worship leaders, and other ministry leaders who are interested in meeting other leaders who share a desire for friendship and to network with others in ministry.

During this time you will have an opportunity to meet and hear from Greg Boyd and Mark Moore as they talk about the possibility of a new network of kingdom revolutionaries.

I’m hoping to attend but can’t confirm my attendance at this point. I’m working on the details. Either way, I’ve assured Greg and Mark that I’m in when it comes to the “movement.” What comes out of this weekend and the follow-up conversations will be nothing short of revolutionary!

You need not be an attendee at the ReKnew Conference to attend this leadership gathering, and the gathering is free. But for planning purposes, advance registration is required.

A Word about the Reknew Conference

I want to let you know about a new book that is coming out. Admittedly, I have not read it yet, but I have yet to read something by my friend Greg Boyd that I was disappointed with. His newest book, Benefit of the Doubt: Breaking the Idol of Certainty, deals with faith and doubt issues. I can’t wait to read it. Also, a conference will take place at Woodland Hills Church at the end of September which will be based on some of the following questions:

Do you have doubts and questions about God, the Bible and evil? Do you ever feel the need to get all of your faith questions answered with certainty? Do you wonder how honest doubt impacts your relationship with Jesus?

Based on Greg Boyd’s new book, Benefit of the Doubt, Greg invites you to embrace a faith that doesn’t strive for certainty, but rather for commitment in the midst of uncertainty. Instead of assuming that your faith is as strong as it is certain, discover how your doubts can enhance faith and how seeking certainty is harming many in today’s church. Wrestle with your faith and experience a life-transforming relationship with Christ, even with unresolved questions about the Bible, theology, and ethics.

I would so love to attend this, but live too far away and won’t be able to schedule in the travel. Is there any chance that this can be broadcast as a webinar? My heart has been yearning to have this discussion and I would love to find an alternate means of attending.

I’m with Cheryl! May we join in thousands of miles away?

  • Paul Clutterbuck

I’m also with Cheryl and Kristy. It would be far more inclusive if conferences like this one were simulcast online.

    • Kristy McPherson

Hi Paul… Would you consider donating to have this streamed live? I just asked brad if this is an option….

  • Brad

Hey Kurt! I sure hope you can make it! You’ve got plenty on your plate, I’m certain, but it would be great to see you! We are moving on 9/26, 2 days before this, and just 8 blocks from church! Steph has her ticket already but I likely won’t make it. Kind of expensive, especially if we’d need childcare for 2 days.

For those of you too far away, I sure wish there was a way! I know the old church we went to had capabilities to simulcast, but that machine was thousands of $$$. I wouldn’t be surprised if this conference either ends up on Greg’s Reknew site, or on Woodlands site down the road. They do have a few other conferences up on the WHC site. If you know of any affordable ways to simulcast, please let me know! I can pass info along to those that could make it happen.

Hi brad could you ask what it would cost? I’m wondering if all of us donate $75-100 in lieu of travel expenses? Could we pull it off?

I largely share this conviction and call this Progressive Christianity:

I love Greg Boyd’s approach of interpreting his inerrant Bible in a morally non-offensive way. I believe it is intellectually untenable but I’ve no problem with respect to the moral and spiritual consequences.

We desparately need a new Christianity to face up the challenge of the New Atheism.
