Entering the Conversation on Paul and Judaism

As you may already know, I recently started a podcast called The Paulcast: A Podcast All About the Apostle Paul.

In order to understand the scholarly conversation about Paul, many folks need a starting point. My first series is exactly that. If you listen to this series, you will understand Paul’s writings in a whole new way!

Here are all the titles for Entering the Conversation:

  • #1 Intro & Auschwitz
  • #2.1 Paul via Augustine, Luther, & Reformers
  • #2.2 Augustine, Luther, & Reformers Continued
  • #3 A New Perspective is Born
  • #4 Wright & Dunn’s New Perspective
  • #5 Radical New Perspectives

Would your position be that Jews were already right with God and that Jesus was the means by which Gentiles were saved?

I think I’d say that this question, except in matters of eschatology isn’t on Paul’s immediate radar. He wants Jews to know Christ, but is driven by the new moment that has arrived in the Messiah, not with individual salvation per se. He is mostly concerned with how to exist together in the same covenantal family… and how this applies to Gentiles specifically.
