Three fun things to announce:
I am delighted to announce the publication of my long-awaited (at least by me, since my original deadline for this thing was last June!) ebook about prenatal testing. This book is designed not as a medical guide to options or as counsel for women who have received a prenatal diagnosis but rather as a “kitchen table conversation” for all pregnant women who need to navigate this brave new world of choosing which prenatal tests to pursue and considering why she might pursue them. It’s call What Every Woman Needs to Know About Prenatal Testing: Insights from a Mom Who Has Been There (I know, I get an award for brevity), and I’m hopeful that it will become a resource for countless pregnant women who want to consider the practical and ethical implications of these types of decisions. There will be much more on this blog about prenatal testing in the weeks to come–excerpts from the book, guest posts from women who have made a host of different decisions about prenatal testing, and posts I’ve written for other publications about the topic as well. Please stay tuned.
I have a new website! It has taken me almost a year to get my act together, and it is still a work in progress, but at least I can now update it. I’d love for you to take a look and tell me what you think, what you wish you saw there, what you’re glad to see. While you’re at it, go ahead and like my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, and sign up for my not-more-than (and sometimes less than) monthly newsletter with highlights from the blog, book news, and other fun stuff you might otherwise miss.
Finally, on Thursday, January 24th, A Good and Perfect Gift will be available on Kindle and Nook and other ereaders for FREE. It’s a one-day only deal, so mark your calendars and prepare to download and tell your friends. If you’ve wanted to tell someone about A Good and Perfect Gift but for whatever reason put it off, now is the time.
