Where are the Gates of Hell?

In Matthew Chapter 16 verse 19, Jesus said "You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it".  It seems like there are some people who seem to either doubt Jesus' words here or don't get that in the same breath that he said "you are Peter (the first Pope) and upon THIS rock, I will build my Church (which is the Catholic Church), He also said "and the gates of hell will NOT prevail against it." {Emphasis mine} I don't really understand … [Read more...]

7 Quick Takes: Getting back to real life after Pope Francis in Philly!

1.It has taken me over a week of being home for me to start to feel ready to do anything. It's not just that I'm tired, but I also have so much to process from a cross country road trip to see the Pope and for some reason, the only way that I have been able to process it is by being with my family. Usually writing a huge way for me to figure things out in my life so it's really weird for me to not be able to write about all the things that happened in our week long adventure. It's all starting … [Read more...]

In less than 48 hours I pick up my rental car!!! WHAT?! I'm really going to drive over 2,000 miles to see my Papa! {With 3 teenagers}I am so excited. I can't even think or write or focus on anything at all because I keep looking at Facebook and seeing everyone packing and flying and getting to Philly! It is like the biggest Catholic party that I've ever seen and I LOVE IT. I love being Catholic. I love being a Christian and so much is going to be asked of us in the coming years to radiate … [Read more...]

Grace is Overflowing: Mission "Go See My Papa" is Happening!

I don't even know how to type this post up without bawling like a baby. I am so overwhelmed with the amount of messages, emails and donations that have come my way since I first posted about going to see Pope Francis in Philadelphia. Not only that, but the prayers have surely been the reason for such abundance of grace being poured out on me and my family. Almost every prayer that I asked for has been answered. I should have added "Pay my therapist" on there because she has been seeing us for … [Read more...]

No, I am not a Heretic

(Disclaimer: I’m very cranky.)So people are talking a lot about gay marriage because SCOTUS (The Supreme Court of the United States) is hearing arguments on the issue. What did I do? I got on Facebook in the middle of working and posted some comments/updates and I ended up with a million messages asking me if I supported gay marriage and if maybe I needed to have the Church’s teachings explained to me. I have talked to most the people who sent those messages (if you are one of them and you … [Read more...]

I wish I would Have Known on Easter Vigil 5 Years Ago

It's that time of year where our beautiful Catholic Church welcomes so many people who have made their way Home! RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, usually begins around September in most parishes and ends with people making their profession of faith or being baptized, confirmed and receiving their first Holy Communion at Easter Vigil. For most people it is quite a journey. It's different for everyone, but I have yet to meet anyone who hasn't thought of it as a whirlwind journey full … [Read more...]

I Tolerate You as long as You Agree with Me

Apparently Dolce and Gabbana have been taking a lot of heat for saying that they do not support gay marriage, gay adoption or IVF and surrogacy. They said that “procreation is an act of love” and that children are born with a mother and a father. Basically, they spelled out Catholic Theology. The only difference is that they are gay. And they are now in the middle of a huge fire storm. Elton John is calling for a boycott and other celebrities are joining him in that boycott.Gay people can't e … [Read more...]

It is Good to Enjoy Sex

Today on my show (which you can hear at 10pm est. time)  I am really going to try hard to explain what my issue is with all the Christian/Catholic blog posts about 50 Shades of Grey. But because I am a crazy person who rambles and rambles, I figured that I should probably write up a blog post first to try and help make myself a little bit clearer.I was one of those people who lived a very sexually “free” lifestyle. I slept with who I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted. I did a lot of thin … [Read more...]

God’s love is Scandalizing

As I have written for a while now, things in my life have been a little rough for the last 2 years or so. There have been moments of pure Grace that have flooded over me like a nice hot bath, but for the most part, it’s been a long uphill walk for me. (And my husband, but this is my blog and I don’t write a lot about his thoughts, because they are his thoughts. These are my thoughts)  I have learned more from this uphill walk than I did when I was floating on Cloud 9 of a new conversion . God kno … [Read more...]
