To enter, leave a comment below saying why you love Superman. We’ll announce the winner Friday, the same day that the movie opens. One entry per household, please.

Yes. I love Superman and have seen every motion picture every made about him. Looking forward to this one as well!!

  • Eric Teetsel

Superman, a God sent to earth by his Heavenly Father to save us, by way of Kansas. What’s not to love?

  • Diane Knuth

We all long for a Hero to come and save us from this troubled world and so to me it is always a feel-good experience, to watch Super Man movies.

  • Jimmie

Are you kidding me? Superman is a hero; a genuine good guy. I don’t care what modern authors and filmmakers do to the character, he remains the guardian of Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

Also, he wears a cape. Who still does that? Superman, that’s who.

  • Denise

He is the one super hero who is a real hero, with pure goodness as motivation, not for riches or recognition, but because he must do what is right and just.

Hi Denise! You’ve won the contest! Congratulations! I’ll be emailing you for your info.

  • Trista Cooper

Uhh, because his only weakness is a rock from another planet, which I’ve heard was left out of this movie. Can’t wait to see this.

  • Larry_Shallenberger

I grew up watching the old b&w tv show. (Re-runs, naturally.)

  • dwightdavis

Superman is a complex character who is generally misunderstood. I love that complexity, that pure ideology that runs behind his character. He is fascinating, and one of my favorite Superman stories is Red Son, in which Superman crashes in Russia rather than the US. He basically turns out to be the same person, despite becoming a dictator over all mankind for a little while. At the end of the story he assumes the “Clark Kent” persona and lives among humanity as a human, not a superhuman. What I love about that story is that it shows that underneath the rhetoric about Superman being a genuinely American hero (Truth, Justice, American Way!), he is an incredibly, inescapably human character. Superman is far from my favorite character, but he is one of the most fascinating comic characters to me. I’m excited to see Goyer/Snyder’s take on him.

In a world where the Anti-hero is now the norm in our entertainment, and angst defines the characters’ virtues, Superman holds firm to the concept of goodness for the sake of being good. He stands up for what’s right, helping those who are not as privileged as he, not for notoriety, but because it’s right. While this might seem outdated, it’s a breath of fresh air to those of us who believe that we can (and should!) also build those character attributes in ourselves.

  • Travis

Superman represents an ideal — that a man with great power might also possess great integrity, humility and mercy, and that those virtures would influence his sense of justice. He could wipe out humanity on a whim if he so wanted, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t see humanity as something to rule, but as people with whom he can partner. To him, each life carries intrinsic value. I like him because the truth he emulates grows from the eternal truth. His myth points the way to the myth that came true.

  • Tina

Admittedly not as much I, but my husband indeed, is awesomely stoked about the movie coming out—and for the amazing “good guy” commonalities that he and the Man of Steel share, I would love to win him some tickets for Father’s Day. Lovin’ my man, heck yeah!! :)

  • Jeff Meyers

For me, it’s the missing-father/son relationship. I went and saw Superman II with my dad when it came out. My dad passed away just as our relationship was beginning to evolve into a peer stage. I love the Superman movies because through them I connect with my dad and my sons can connect with him as well.

  • Andrew

I love Superman because he has the best powers out of all the super heros. Even flying by itself is great!

  • VegasLiz

Because he is Superman…not Superdog, Magneto,
    Ironman, or Spiderman….etc….he is SUPERMAN!

  • j4m3z

I love Superman because he is relevant for all times.

  • Kim Henrichs

    He’s the ultimate good guy!

  • Adam Conway

I love Superman because in 1930 two great and amazing teenagers had an idea inspired by a German book. They took that ‘ubermensch’ and they decided to create a symbol but not just a symbol; an incredible and amazing beacon of hope for ‘truth, justice and the American way’. This Superman did not just show the way for the American people he inspired millions of people through a world war to fight for the hope he was created for and he has gone on to inspire millions more for decades since then and will go on to inspire truth for centuries to come.

  • Dayna Brisco

Superman is my favorite superhero of all time because he always tries to do the right thing! A true hero.

  • godan2

for all the superpowers and the ultimate good guy

  • Doug

Because not even Chuck Norris can beat Superman

  • VC

    Better then batman

  • Skylar

I love that Superman always fights for the people. He has so many powers and he could easily see himself as greater than humans, but he chooses to help and be there for them.

  • Addie

b/c he always does the right thing… even when its hard and he gets nothing out of it

  • Holly Dutton

Love the thought provoking comments! Superman is a story that captures our imagination and inner desire for good to triumph over evil. Yet the vulnerability of the character captures our human struggles with its limitations, as well the choices and relationships each of us faces. The question of what super-power you would choose is often asked but the deeper question would be, how would you use your superpower?. Love Travis’ emphasis on Superman’s sense of integrity, humility, mercy and his intrinsic value of each life because with the complexity of humanity, these qualities are central to being a true hero, no matter what level of power we possess.

I love superman because he was the first superhero I saw on the big screen. The adoration continued through college as the kids I babysat watched the superman movies over and over, so I did too. Love that man of steel!

  • Jacob

Because he was The ORIGINAL modern superhero. People might fight over their favorites and this and that but it all started with him!!!!

  • Traci Petersen

I love that Superman was Clark Kent, a geeky, unassuming reporter that looks nothing (right?) like our hero, with those horn-rimmed glasses! His devotion to Lois Lane made me feel as if I could have a hero looking after me, too. I actually have better–my Savior, Jesus Christ!

  • Lisa Y

I love Superman because I grew up watching all the Superman movies and I still love watching the movies as an adult. He is a true Superhero.

  • Alexandra Harper

A sent cosmic champion who battles absolute evil to rescue helpless and broken people who are not his own and further sacrifices himself to save the world because of his unfailing love? Yep, Superman’s a keeper:)

  • Lupita

Superman is a hero who doesn’t just blend in with humans but a person who in fact is different does not think he is almighty.
What I’m trying to say is that he has been an inspiration to me since I
was a child for the fact that he is true to himself. He loves to protect
his family and friends on Earth and he keeps a low profile so he can
continue to support everyone around him as Clark Kent rather than
    Superman

  • MYNamesDarren

I Love Superman because I am Superman…….actually I just want to be Superman (who doesn’t?)
