I’ve never been a great fan of the franchise, but a friend who’s a fan of the original books says he’s not MEANT to be likeable. In fact, he’s a sociopath. Of all the ways he’s been portrayed in the cinema, Sean Connery and Daniel Craig come closest to portraying the ruthless disregard for others that’s meant to characterise him.

Is he admirable? Of course not, if you met someone like that in real life you’d run a mile (assuming you understood the real nature of his character)

  • ‘Tis Himself, OM.

    In fact, he’s a sociopath.

    Bond in a nutshell.

Ah, it’s nice to laugh at all the reasons why I dislike 007. And to be reminded again why Doctor Who beats out Bond every time.

  • Nomen Nescio

Bond himself’s never been interesting; it’s the villains you watch the movies for. well, them and the scantily-clad women, for approximately half of us.
