Rising Star Fundraiser – 2013

Dear friends in reason,

I’d like to tell you about a new grant program I’ve created to send 18-30 year olds to The Amaz!ng Meeting (TAM2013). The Rising Star grant is raising funds to send young talent to TAM2013 with the goal of finding skepticism’s future leaders. The program is inspired by my own positive experience being chosen as a TED Fellow, in the class of 2009, where 40 outstanding individuals were given the opportunity to attend TED’09 in Long Beach, CA. Being part of the TED Fellows family has had a huge impact on my growth as an artist promoting scientific skepticism, and I’d like to try and pass on this opportunity to other; looking for young skeptical minds who have talent and potential that can prove valuable to the future of skepticism.

I ask for your help, as bloggers, podcasters, and leaders in the promotion of science-based thinking, to aid in the promotion of this new grant. In the first short week the grant has been launched, it has already raised enough money to send three new skeptics to this year’s TAM. Please consider using your platforms to encourage this program, both for receiving new donations and new applications.

Interested individuals can apply for the grant via an online form. Donors receive thank you gift based on their donations – from Rising Star grant logo buttons, autographed copies of Secrets of Sorcerers, and the very popular “Jedi Master Sagan” t-shirts.

Please have a look at the grant’s website: http://www.risingstar.saramayhew.com

Thank you for your support,

Sara E. Mayhew
