Little Kitten – 2012 (with Adam Savage) Gets Kicked in the Nuts!

I'm a non-violence kind of girl... ...but gosh. Adam Savage has sure got a quirky sense of humour... Thanks to John for passing this on! … [Read more...]

My 2012 Reading And Viewing (And Event-Going) In Review

Currently on a break - back on Thursday. Here's something I blogged before I left. Penn Jillette used to do this all the time when he kept a blog, and I used to find it interesting. I don't know if you'll find my reading and viewing (and conference-attending) habits interesting, but I've kept a quasi-regular log in the back of my diaries throughout the decades and this year is no exception. This is the first time I've typed one out, however. I haven't included books or films or documentaries … [Read more...]

Little Kitten – The 2012 Science Inspiration with Prof Brian Schmidt

The 2012 Science Inspiration was presented by Professor Brian Schmidt, joint winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics. Brian shares the accolade with two other scientists, having provided evidence that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. As an award winning astrophysicist, Brian spends his time studying exploding stars, trying to understand the universe and how to make a good bottle of wine. All while fulfilling an array of public speaking engagements as one of Australia's most … [Read more...]

Little Kitten – The Evolution Of Life On Earth

What's in my bag? A champagne cork. Don't worry, it's not early Christmas celebrations and out-of-habit drunken frivolity; instead I attended the Women in Media event at the WA Art Gallery and it popped into my bag as the staff were pouring me an orange juice.   It was a wonderful night out and after being asked today to podcast at the sold-out TEDxPerth, I'm going to consider it a little memento of serendipity. Alexander Calder - Flying Saucers: And now? Still recovering (resulting … [Read more...]

Quick Update On The Blogging Situation (News I’ve Read Rather Than Written)

Current situation? Still visiting the physiotherapist for my aching shoulders about two to three times a week, but things are improving at a rapid pace... unless I do too much typing or exert myself too much. I'll get better but it's taking time. [Know what hurts most? Removing tape. I can handle avoiding poking aches and pains, but removing tape and annoying residual tape-mess is just irritating and icky. Can't even look at bandaids without crinkling nose at this rate.] Since I'm awake at 4am … [Read more...]

Final Note – Donate To Donors Choose And Appearance On The Atheist Nomads

I nearly forgot... and I know this is unforgettable: Big thank you to all the people who donate to the podcast. Seriously, it's a huge boost and makes a difference to securing the show and I continue to be inspired and excited knowing that people like you are supportive. I'll be zipping an email out to you later today, but in the meantime, thanks very much for your help and I hope you enjoy the next one that should be out early next week. I'm still planning and brainstorming shows, so I hope … [Read more...]

Blog Break (And Bird)

My shoulder is all bandaged up and I have to take a computer break for a while until treatment is underway. I will write this last little event from today: Driving back, I saw two crows on the side of the road, appearing to pick at something both red and yellow. Then I realised, as I drove past, that it was a rainbow lorikeet. I could hear it screaming. It was spinning around and around on its back, lashing out with its claws as the crows aimed for its head. Rainbow lorikeets are sociable … [Read more...]
