Most religions have merely canonized a few products of ancient ignorance and derangement and passed them down to us as though they were primordial truths.

Having never been religious one thing that always fascinates me is the ability of believers to be utterly convinced that their own myths/religion are correct and at the same time utterly convinced that other religions are wrong. I just can’t understand how someone can’t work out that beliefs are predominately based on culturally upbringing and one religious truth is no better than another. Reminds me very much of the train of thought which goes something along the lines of god exists as is says so in the bible and the bible is the word of god so it must be true.
This is the sad thing – that people, in this scientific age, still allow their lives to be dominated by the writings of violent, ignorant men. And many don’t only believe these stories are true, they believe them LITERALLY. In other words, every “dot and tiddle” is absolutely perfect. This is what I was taught.
