Jesus the Magician

Assuming some of the stories in the gospels originate from stories told about Jesus, do you think he could have been a kind of magician whose stunts were magnified through history? Or do you think the stories were simply made up decades after to make him look like the Son of God?

I think it’s probably a combination.

Neither; they were the same stories told about other godmen like Mithras, Attas, Osiris, Gilgamesh, Moses…

Recycling old myths to fit new people happened all the time.

  2. it is reality.he also is returned .the clock has the pendulem rocking again.the good lord has given me the task of being the messenger.i opened the sealed book of revelations.on you tube i reveal the rev4:7 four faces.all i read and reported came true.proof? i have much proof.i carry signs of all faiths.i know tomorrows calamities.how to survive ect.none believe me and so the story has to go on as written.my part was to get people to realise the truth.to change the fate of mankind.but none will really get it.so we perish as written due to nonbelief.this is a sad event for me as i know the things happening ahead.i can prevent.our govt ignores me.they know.the whole intelligence community knows me.they have to keep face.i opened up the command control centers main computer web page, who is the coimmander in chief? his web page ,the top security ,biggest secret page in the world.the hub of all govt entities, their hive so to speak.not a secret, there is no secrets any more.i even know my own fate although it is not a factor,i could run and hide from the lord but you can not do that.instead my self is the sacrafice for the world.my gift was accepted by my creator, his gift? the end day story.on youtube i show proofs search drhoecker and see.

  3. @swordstone666: No offense, but have you tried medication?

By the way, if you know tomorrow’s calamities, tell me the name of next person to be killed in my town (and also tell me what the name of my town is).

Are you up for the challenge?

Can’t wait to see if he accepts your challenge. :)

You could be right, but wintermute has a point too. There are some uncanny similarities between the myths/histories of many religions.

    BTW, great clip!

‘tother day on Pharyngula I accidentally mixed up Rowan Atkinson with Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury). Now I know why ;-).

The problem that you have is that the gospels were not written long enough after the actual events for them to be attributed to legends. Furthermore, Luke the physician and author of Luke, did specific research during the lifetimes of the people who witnessed the events he wrote about. Oddly enough his gospel has a lot more about the virgin birth and various miracles than any of the others.
