Benny Hinn Exposed

It’s crazy that so many sheep still follow Benny Hinn — he’s been exposed as a fraud many times. But here is another exposure of Benny Hinn:

1. VorJack says:

*sigh*

The world needs fewer Benny Hinn’s and more Ole Anthony’s.

2. trj says:

At some point faith becomes blind faith. This is where your perception is controlled purely by your own desires and no actual information is able to get through.

Hypothetically, you could probably show this video to a Benny Hinn assembly, and for most of them it would only confirm their belief in the devil and strengthen their faith in some round-about way.

• Ken Qualls says:

“People donj’t ask for facts when making up their minds. They would rather have one good, soul-satisfying emotion than a dozen facts.” Robert Leavitt

3. “you could probably show this video to a Benny Hinn assembly, and for most of them it would only confirm their belief”

The little girl obviously has a lot of talent and passion for life. I’m sure many believers would say that without her immobility, should would not have fought so hard to overcome it and would not have been able to touch others as she does. So, God didn’t want Hinn to save her. That’s why she wasn’t allowed on stage, of course! God has a plan for her. She was chosen to not be able to walk and have use of her hands for a reason. Obviously.

• chris westerman says:

God put a little girl in a wheelchair? God caused a little girl to be crippled??????????
How sick!!!!!!!!!

• John says:

God came to save the sick. Man sinned in the beginning (Adam) and that is the cause of sickenesses and diseases which is brought upon a person by satan. God sent his Son and his word to heal us. Please read your bible before making any more comments about God. Remember God made everyone, even YOU.

• Roger says:

This is FAIL on multiple levels. Why would your “god” allow people to be sick in the first place? Think about the manifold absurdities in “the beginning”, John. Here’s one for starters: why the fuck would your “god” put a tree in the middle of a garden and then tell his idiot creations to stay away from it? Why put it there? What was the point?

How about YOU read the Bible and then read some stuff about the construction of these texts.

• Sniffles says:

Why? Because God is sovereign and can do as He pleases.

On another level, it would seem that by making the tree and issuing a directive prohibiting people from eating from it, God was allowing them to exercise the free will He gave them. They were free to obey or disobey God.

Without the ‘don’t eat from the tree’ bit, there would not have been a choice whether to follow or to reject God’s authority, to display faith in Him (or a lack thereof), and to exhibit trust in Him.

Also, Roger, the previous person’s post already explained the presence of sin in humanity (i.e., it can be traced back to the fall in the garden, when the first humans chose to disobey God, sin entered the world and impacted nature, our bodies, etc).

As for the original post (about Benny Hinn), most Christians regard Benny Hinn as a heretic and a fraud. There may be a handful who buy into the “Word of Faith” nonsense Hinn pedals, so you might find a few who buy into his shtick, but most Christians are wise enough to stay away from him and his teachings.

• Sniffles says:

Correction in my last post: I meant “sickness,” not “sin,” where I wrote, “the previous person’s post already explained the presence of sin in humanity…”

That should have read, “the previous person’s post already explained the presence of sickness in humanity…”

• Sunny Day says:

Yes and it was a Fail. Just as your post was.

• Skippy says:

As Sunny Day noted, your deity, if it exists, is a prick. “He” is “sovereign and can do as he pleases”? Well, isn’t that special. Then it shouldn’t get “angry” (wait, I thought this entity wasn’t affected by anything–then why would it get angry?) when humans do things differently than it might wish. If it didn’t want humans to sin, then it shouldn’t have given humans the effective means by which such “sin” would happen. Humans would have been able to exercise free will in any number of ways without putting themselves (and their descendants–how kind!) in danger of pissing off the sky daddy.

• perfectarc says:

It would seem that this deity of yours is a real prick.

To wit, the abuse and sexual molestation of thousands upon thousands of living breathing children by his clerics, strapping on a bomb and walking into a crowded marketplace to murder and maim, the spontaneous abortion of billions of embryos since the dawn of humanity, murder of living, breathing doctors by religious zealots, war, the fact that over 2 billion people don’t have access to sanitary water for drinking and bathing,, the fact that there are over 10 million teenage girls living a life in prostitution in India alone, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

The world will be a far better place when religion eventually goes extinct, as all religions eventually do……..

4. Matt Carter says:

The only people who deserve to be called miracle workers, are the people in the medical profession. Surgeons, doctors and nurses who work hard to improve the quality of life for children like that little girl.

• karin wiseman says:

How foolish unbelievers are. You are blinded to the Truth Which is Jesus Christ Who uses Benny Hinn as a worker of miracles because Benny believes! He truly is a man of God. Read the Bible and find out for yourselves, ask the Holy Spirit to change you and give you faith, which comes from hearing the Word of God. Only then will you be able to see.
Having knowledge and understanding of God is “mindblowingly wonderful”!!

• Elemenope says:

Wow. You really turned me around.

• trj says:

Consider my mind blown.

• Alex says:

Your faith in there being no god lies too much in absolutes and assumptions. You can easily boost your confidence by comparing yourself to people who mindlessly follow this Benny guy. But what if you challenge your own assumptions that you state here and actually try to defend the case for the existence of God? I’m sorry, but there’s no way through logical deduction that you can come to a solid conclusion either way about the existence of God. There is too little information to prove that God exists, but there are also far too many interesting and unanswered questions to conclude that anyone who believes lacks logical founding for that faith. I personally struggle greatly with the notion that scientists will one day be able to completely explain why the universe exists.

So you can point to holes in individual areas of a religion all you want, but you really should recognize that the foundations on either side are pretty shaky when it comes to decisive known facts.

• Tommy says:

“John”,

There is no proof that God is real and I cant prove it to you? Are you kidding me, you obviously are just a man with a “opinion”, even Einstein Stated Many quotes, though not a TRUE believer. So if one of the smartest men who ever walked on the plant believed this you might want to aks yourself why.
You know when all these quotes came out from Einstein? When he started learning about Micro Biology: So please, do not drop you “opinion” as FACT.
If you want to seek truth, search for it. Otherwise stay off the boards. Here are some quotes from Einstein a Non Religious persons thoughts on God:

1. I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details.
2. Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.
3. My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.
4. The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge.
5. Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.
6. The scientists’ religious feeling takes the form of a rapturous amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection.
7. There is no logical way to the discovery of elemental laws. There is only the way of intuition, which is helped by a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance.
8. The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
9. The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious; It is the source of all true art and science.
10. We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality.
11. Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the Gods.
12. When the solution is simple, God is answering.
13. God does not play dice with the universe.
14. God is subtle but he is not malicious.
15. A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.
16. Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.
17. The man who regards his own life and that of his fellow creatures as meaningless is not merely unfortunate but almost disqualified for life.
18. Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.
19. Only a life lived for others is a life worth while.
20. The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books—-a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects.
21. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity.
22. What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do with mysticism.
23. The finest emotion of which we are capable is the mystic emotion. Herein lies the germ of all art and all true science. Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of wonderment and lives in a state of fear is a dead man. To know that what is impenetrable for us really exists and manifests itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, whose gross forms alone are intelligible to our poor faculties – this knowledge, this feeling … that is the core of the true religious sentiment. In this sense, and in this sense alone, I rank myself among profoundly religious men.
24. The real problem is in the hearts and minds of men. It is easier to denature plutonium than to denature the evil spirit of man.
25. True religion is real living; living with all one’s soul, with all one’s goodness and righteousness.
26. Intelligence makes clear to us the interrelationship of means and ends. But mere thinking cannot give us a sense of the ultimate and fundamental ends. To make clear these fundamental ends and valuations and to set them fast in the emotional life of the individual, seems to me precisely the most important function which religion has to form in the social life of man.

• Sunny Day says:

Who cares what the smartest man believes, or the stupidest. What matters is the evidence. All you have is a variation of the old tired argument from authority.

• James McIntyre says:

Tommy, congratulations for bringing some sanity to this discussion. Benny Hinn does not coerce people to his events, and having attended one – initially as a sceptic, shortly thereafter as a firm believer – I know that he is an anointed person. That he has wealth is a fact – is it only people who do not serve God who should have wealth? That he has dedicated his life to serving God is also a fact. Equally important to all those who are ridiculing Christianity on this board is the fact that God does not coerce anyone to come to Him or to walk away from Him. We do so of our own free will. There is good and evil in this world, and you walk away from the good, and you walk into evil. I believe because I have experienced. Christians are not blind, TRJ, most have experienced and the change that has happened in their lives is adequate evidence for them to believe. It may seem like blindness to you, but from our perspective, it is quite the opposite – it is you who are blind. There are of course fallible pastors, priests etc., but that does not make God fallible or bad. My belief is founded entirely by my own experience, and my encounter with God.

• VidLord says:

“That he has wealth is a fact – is it only people who do not serve God who should have wealth?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Matthew 19:21

The most perfect and most beautiful verse in the entire bible in my opinion. Now, read what you just wrote in that context. I’m an atheist and the “come, follow me” part – to this day – chokes me up.

• trj says:

James, you have found God. Good for you. But don’t be a sanctimonious bastard. You know nothing about any of us personally, and yet you make a sweeping judgemental statement that we “walk into evil” simply because we happen to not believe in your god.

• dami says:

trj, why do you guy sound so angry at the world, and every thing that does not support you believes? what cant you guy make comment without bastard or fuck you , or Ill come and get you soon you motherfucking bastard. why don’t you bring facts to the table? why do you reply facts with angry words?have you ever wondered? you always sound like you are fighting something. have you watched the secret of attraction? Even the atheist amongst them say the universe is listen to you, the universe would give you every thing you ask, all you need is believe and faith in it. Now That is cool. I ask what is this universe they are talking about? ( am still not saying there’s God but hey!)

• trj says:

Please direct me to where I’ve ever said or acted anything like you accuse me of.

• Nzo says:

In 1929, Einstein told Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein “I believe in Spinoza’s God, who reveals Himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a God Who concerns Himself with the fate and the doings of mankind.” In a 1954 letter, he wrote, “I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly.” In a letter to philosopher Erik Gutkind, Einstein remarked, “The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still purely primitive, legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.”

Does this help you any Tommy? Probably not, but let’s not take things out of context where people are smart enough to call you on your bullshit.

Hey tommy ur not too bright u just contradicted urself by saying that opinions arent facts then u went ahead and stated einsteins opinion u need help i hate hearing people like u claim to know it all just shut up if u cant even use decent logic!

• lunar elf says:

how can you continue to believe when this guy has been exposed as a fraud and there is so much suffering in the world? the whole original sin story just doesn’t make sense. why should we suffer because of the mistakes of our supposed ancestors generations ago? if your dad killed somone, should you also be punished? the bible is simply the folklore of that time and region. people trying to make sense of the world around the with very little knowledge of science. what makes this religion right and the others wrong? if god has the capacity to do all and know all, then why does he let us suffer, or pick and choose for his supposed “plan”. it seems to me if he does exist, he’s playing with our lives like a puppet master. where’s the compassion? the bible is full of so many horrible things that are attributed to god, even if he were real, he would not get my praise. check this out:( http://www.humanismbyjoe.com/Violence_and_God.htm ) and ( http://www.ffrf.org/books/lfif/?t=contra ). how does one rationally explain this as the action of a all loving and compassionate god. i’m not trying to be rude or disrespectful, only encourage that people think for themselves and compassion and empathy within themselves. incocatiiininvocinvocation of the supernatural.

Reply to karin wiseman:
I’m not even an “unbeliever,” but I have serious doubts that Benny Hinn and many other pastors or talk show hosts on religious channels such as TBN are “truly men of God.”

I do think there are a small number of genuine, honest, ethical, biblical teachers and pastors on TBN and other Christian networks, but most of them do not hold any of those qualities.

The majority of Christian television personalities I have seen are out for people’s money, and most of them are proponents of that “Word of Faith” (also known as the “Health and Wealth, Prosperity Gospel”) dreck.

The minute a television pastor starts asking the viewer about “planting a seed faith gift” to his or her ministry, I turn the channel as fast as I can. I don’t trust Benny Hinn or the other Word of Faith tele-evangelists, and I’m not an atheist/ skeptic.

• perfectarc says:

Hinn is a parasite who exploits undereducated and illiterate fools who watch TBN.

Can you see that this man is commercially using God’s name 4 his own gains? When judgment day comes we will see what God has to say about Benny.

Santa Claus has that guy beat hands down. Some years I wouldn’t even make a list and Santa would still bring me presents.

Who knew omnipotence meant lazy?

5. trj says:

@McBloggenstein:
Oh yeah, forgot about the “mysterious ways”. And thus Hinn was merely doing God’s will when he refused to heal the little girl. So obvious when you think about it.

6. Roger says:

Even when I was religious, I would wonder, “What, exactly, does God need money for?” I duped myself into believing that old nonsense about “showing faith/commitment to God” and would (grudgingly) put a check in the collection plate. And those snake-oil salesmen (Hinn’s just the tip of that crazy iceberg) who have all those Mega Fests and revivals and shit know that what they’re doing is putting on a performance. The money that the duped peasants shower on these fools is the equivalent of crazed fans throwing their panties on stage to a rock star.

• karin wiseman says:

If you are religious, you are not a Christian. When you are a Christian, you are being transformed into the image of Christ and start to understand all things, and don’t mock God’s anointed and holy people.
Yes there are “scums” who use the Name of God unrighteously.
Pator Benny Hinn is NOT one of them, he is a holy man who fears the Lord.
Ask God to open your eyes to the Truth.
“Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”

When you are a Christian, you are being transformed into the image of Christ…

Does the transformation come with photographic evidence, or is it that special, meaningless metaphorical kind?

• Sniffles says:

@ Elemenope.
Why the sarcasm and snark to karin, especially in response to a post that was so innocuous? She wasn’t being a rude smart ass. I didn’t pick up an attitude in her post, certainly not one deserving of ridicule or disrespect.

• Sunny Day says:

It’s just not that hard to understand.

When you show up and preach scripture to us and provide no evidence you should not expect respect. When you hold ridiculous beliefs you should expect ridicule.

• Nzo says:

Karin is claiming that a supernatural transformation is occurring. Somewhat akin to “when you believe in Santa Clause enough, you start transforming into an elf!”. There’s no reason whatsoever that MY assertion that we’d turn into elves is any less believable than Karin’s assertion that we’d turn into some creepy undead guy.

You’d probably be more rude and derogatory than Elem if you heard someone making the same assertion as I did, and without a doubt knew they meant it %100. I’d say Elem was being rather nice, considering.

• Kodie says:

Elsewhere in this thread, this karin wiseman (a misnomer) calls unbelievers foolish. I don’t think she’s that nice, so I would say anything to her I had a mind to about her vivid fantasy world if this weren’t such an old thread.

• Elemenope says:

Her comment doesn’t exist in isolation, but was taken by me in the same vein as her earlier comment in the thread, which asserted that unbelievers are by definition “foolish”. Given that, and the reasonable conclusion that follows from Ms. Wiseman’s comments that she is less interested in substantive discussion than in evangelism, my general tendency to afford a new commenter with conversational respect was a bit muted.

9. James,

AHHH that was hilarious!

10. mclanea says:

The thing is, no one within evangelicalism would consider Binny Hinn to be anything more than a fraud. What is disconcerting to me is that so few Christians speak out against his open fraudulent heresy.

11. Kira says:

So, evangelical priests ask for money for God? I always thought it was like in synagogue, where they say it’s for salaries, or repairs to the building, or whatever.

12. VorJack says:

@Kira

Some do, some don’t. Even within the evangelical tradition of Christianity, there’s a pretty wide range. You’ve got the tiny micro-churches where everyone chips in a few bucks and they meet in a storefront church in a shopping mall to save money. Then you’ve got the huge mega-churches where there are many different programs and come-ons to draw money out of the parishioners. Then there are the “prosperity gospel” churches, where they give money to God (through their preacher, natch) in the hopes that God will reward them with more money.

Then you’ve got Benny Hinn, who so bloody out there that most other evangelicals can’t even see him. Men like him don’t really fit into the spectrum. Not only is he a fraud, but he’s diverged wildly from Christian doctrine.

@mclanea

“What is disconcerting to me is that so few Christians speak out against his open fraudulent heresy.”

To be fair, it was a Christian preacher – Ole Anthony – who helped get him busted for fraud. And Anthony has kept the heat on through the years. My worry is that Anthony is not long for the world and I don’t know who’s going to take his place. Of course, he’s lasted a lot longer than most folks who have been nuked, so maybe he’ll hold on.

I remember thinking I couldn’t wait have faith like him so I could be rolling in the dough as well.

Well, duh, it’s no wonder I didn’t get the money. I should have started my own ministry THEN I would get the money….

…silly me.

16. James says:

“So, evangelical priests ask for money for God? I always thought it was like in synagogue, where they say it’s for salaries, or repairs to the building, or whatever.”

I tell Christians to just cut out the middle man and donate directly to charities. Could you imagine if the Red Cross or somebody operated like many churches do? There would be a huge outrage. Churches have no oversight so they pretty much buy whatever they want. That’s why they’ve become country clubs instead of charities.

One thing you have to consider is that not all Christian believe in what Benny Hinn is doing. And believe it or not Hinn only represent a small part of the Christian faith. There are some who are moved by what they see or feel and there are others who live based on principal teachings. One thing is for sure those who are true to the Faith, like the little girl, know the fraud when they see them. Now I will say this just because there are a few bad fish in the ocean, doesn’t mean that the whole ocean is tanted and bad. God is alive and He knows all. Those who are wrongfully miss leading people, trust me God knows exactly who they are and He tells His people don’t worry about those who are wrong and who are false because God has assured us that He will seperate them out. Folks like Benny Hinn who give the Christian faith a bad name I don’t worry about them because God’s true glory will be revealed dispite what they do. God is real!!! These folks better watch out because one thing for sure you don’t mess with God that way!

• Mark says:

Theresa wrote “Folks like Benny Hinn who give the Christian faith a bad name I don’t worry about them because God’s true glory will be revealed dispite what they do. God is real!!!”

God is NOT real and people who believe in her causes immense pain to the world. When will christians realise its not just people like Benny Hinn that give them a bad name – its their following of a silly fairy story that sees the majority of the world not take them seriously.

24. Dilhan says:

The video you have chosen to use as an example of Benny Hinn being a fraud is so misleading and selective that it is really not credible. At Benny Hinn’s various events, there are a multitude of miracles. I am not some crazy person who believes propaganda and as a marketer I visited the one and only crusade I went to with critical apprehension. There were miracles – a deaf child who sat near me and shared her story with me, was healed on the 2nd day. There were hundreds of others. He then calls up people who have been healed miraculously. My own father wanted to go up to the altar when he called for those who were healed, and he was turned back as he was unsure. He had an 80% block in a key artery to his heart when he got there – it was dangerous to operate due to its location at a ‘junction’ point. We saw Hinn when he visited London. Two days later, the doctor cleared my father and confirmed that only a miracle could have completely cleared the artery. Even though he was not sure if he had been healed and was turned back by Hinn’s ‘handlers’ he was healed. There were others who remained in their wheelchairs before and after the crusade. God is not there to serve us, if so there would be no need for hospitals, nor insurance! In the bible he has laid out certain conditions, and just like an earthly father who loves the child who obeys and loves him back, God protects and blesse those that turn to him. Unlike an earthly father though he loves those that turn their backs on Him but if they walk away, there is not much He can do to bring them back into His protection. It’s quite logical, and something I grappled with for a while. Rationally, it is lear but of course you will always get the selective exceprts like that which you show, which can mislead others. As for the money, the Catholic Church, like Clubs and Societies, needs money for existence. To fix the roof, pay Pastors and priests, etc. Hinn needs money to help more people – the event I atte nded at the London Excel was free – there were 15,000 of us there and the venue must have cost a lot. Somebody has to pay for that. I did not have to, nor did I give anything at the collection. You don’t have to give anything. Give if you want to, knowing it goes to a good cause. If Hinn asks and misuses that money, God will deal with him. I hope whoever is responsible for this page and the misleading information on it, will take a moment to think about the thousands of happy stories of healing and deliverance that are proven at these crusades.

First off, we ought to follow what the Holy Bible teaches, and not religion.
Even though a pastor/priest/man of God errs, we are not to judge but pray for them.
We need to ask God for the discerning spirit to be always in truth.
Today we are being preached about the love of God and Jesus the healer and provider which
is required. However, emphasise needs to be given on repentance, holy living and to be always
prepared for the second coming of Christ.Sadly this is seldom preached today.

Religion, is in and of itself, evil, so you don’t have to cite devil worship as an excuse for the evil deeds perpetrated by your filthy religion over the centuries. Evidence? How many children were molested and/or abused by your christian catholic clergy over the last century of so? How many Ted Haggards and other evangelical frauds have found themselves on a police blotter over the years? How many doctors have been murdered now by religious zealots in the name of a mythological deity? Religion is evil my friend and you should renounce this crap and start trying to be a simple and decent human being. Maybe you should think about getting an education rather than try to understand the crap written in a book 15 to 20 centuries ago when man was trying to make sense of a world that was poorly understood. We do understand the world now, and one thing is for sure, your religion is nothing but an oppressive psychopathology promulgated by parasites like John Hagee, Benny Hinn and the other common criminals found on TBN.

Moronic. There’s no evidence to support your idea that anyone gets healed at all.

That being said. I hope you get sick, and have $Benny Hinn$ heal you instead of a doctor. Big fan of Darwinism on this end.

35. John says:

What’s Your Point?

Many go and get healed, that’s shown at every event. Many go and don’t get healed. Do you know anything about the Bible? God Heals. Benny Hinn raises faith so people can get healed if they are without sin and have faith.
Maybe you should focus on the number of healings that take place at Benny Hinn events around the world that don’t take place before the event. How many do you think that is?
By the way, how much money do you think it takes to put on 30 events like this every year? …to raise faith … to get the many healings that do take place.

• Jabster says:

“Many go and get healed, that’s shown at every event.”

Care to provide some evidence for that?

• Nzo says:

Maybe you should focus on the amount of money that goes into these events, and divide that by the amount of people ACTUALLY healed (read: 0). Then I want you to realize that only the smartest and meanest of people could actually pretend to heal millions while raking in that kind of money.

Is it sad that I almost understand why B.H. would do this? These people are so gullible and easily separated from vast amounts of money. I mean… I suppose I could claim to be a “faith healer”, scream and shout about god’s healing powers. I could run around and smack the morons upside the head while draining their wallets of the cash they could use to go to real doctors ensuring that they do not receive the needed medical attention and preventing their continued useless existence. Sounds fairly win/win to me…

• Nzo says:

Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Matthew 7:15-23

37. John says:

So… Is there any reason the proven healer Oral Roberts would be a good friend and mentor to Benny Hinn? Is there any reason the late Pope John Paul II would meet with Benny Hinn and hug him? Is there any reason that not some, but hundreds of Ministers from many faiths are at each and every one of his services? Is God judging Benny Hinn for being deceitful by allowing him to minister to Millions of people around the world each year? Is he spreading God’s word, or is that fake too? Is he building faith in a miracle-working God?

So let’s suppose he is God’s chosen to spread God’s word “to all the earth” as Benny Hinns books say, what does the Bible say about those who would talk against God’s servants? What do you think God would say about those who mock His miracle power through his servant Benny Hinn? What do you think God would say about those who would willfully cause doubt in and fear of his servant who is trying to raise faith in the word of God ?

Have you read the Bible lately? Any of it? Try this link…

So have you seen the “junk emails” about all those who have spoken badly about God or have dismissed God as not being important … and their deaths shortly thereafter (I believe one of them was that John Lennon said during an interview that the Beatles were more popular than God … and he died shortly after that when he was shot … was it 6 times?). Even a little lie can really get you in a lot of trouble, check out Acts Ch. 5 in the Bible (you know, right after Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John).

May God Bless You … and not Curse you. Have a Blessed Life.

• Roger says:

c) Quoting the Bible on an atheist’s blog is frakking hilarious…and full of prefabricated fail.
d) Citing junk emails about people allegedly dying after calling BS on “faith healers”? Dude, have you suffered a brain injury? I’ll do it here and now and challenge your “deity” to strike me down: Hinn and all his ilk are inveterate liars. There is no god or gods who provide miracles or work through insipid carbon-based subordinates. Hey, I’m still typing…nope, not struck down yet. Huh. Go figure.

• Kodie says:

Hey, Kool-aid! You are looking for a “good reason” a bunch of religious guys are friends with each other? I mean, if the pope likes Benny Hinn, he must be for real!!! Everyone loves the pope, so he must know what he’s talking about!!!

What dumb logic you have.

• Perfectarc says:

• yahweh says:

Johnny Boy, you might want to check your timeline. John Lennon’s interview about the Beatles being more popular than Jesus (that was and is still true) was in 1966. He was murdered in 1980. I would not call that “died shortly after”.

38. Joe says:

I am a Christian who thinks Benny Hinn is a fake. It is so sad he is using God to use and manipulate people. Jesus himself said this would happen and warned his disciples about it. My post is not as much about Benny as it is for the people who are wanting all the answers before they will believe there is a God. I realize the below bible verses will not mean anything to a person who thinks the bible is full of garbage. How can someone read the new testament and not be amazed? The wisdom in the new testament in mind blowing. Even in this day an age we sadly need the wisdom and lessons that are written in the bible. People on their own have no chance of finding true happiness without it. If they say they are truly happy they are fooling themselves.

Corinthians 13
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Hebrew 11
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.

6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

As read in Corinthians 13, “now I know in part, then I shall know fully”. We don’t not know all the answers, that is why it is called Faith as read about in Hebrews 11. I believe and feel, truly and deeply feel, that I have been rewarded for seeking God.

• Perfectarc says:

it makes me sad to think that so many have wasted their lives in pursuit of a myth that has plagued humanity now for two millennium. What served as a guide in the ancient world to explain the unexplainable is now nothing short of a burden on the modern one. How many have died or been persecuted in the name of a religion? How many doctors now have been killed because some religious zealot equates medical abortion with murder? How many megachurches and televangelists have stolen from their desperate yet loyal congregations. How many children have been molested or abused because of a christian criminal enterprise that hides pedophile clergy to protect its assets and preserve the myth? Religion, is nothing short than two thousand years of crimes against humanity. I for one, am glad to be free of religion and hope that my children will not be plagued by these antediluvian myths.

• Perfectarc says:

How can someone read the new testament and not be amazed?

It’s easy. You read it, and then you say to yourself “gee, this sounds completely plagiarized from all the other bronze-age holy books from the region I’ve read!” That’s how.

• vorjack says:

How can someone read the new testament and not be amazed? The wisdom in the new testament in mind blowing.

Paul shows signs of having absorbed plenty of Greek philosophy – not surprising for a man who is associated with the Hellenized city of Tarsus. So to be fair, you should always consider him in light of the great moral philosophy of his time. Particularly the Stoics, whom Paul and Jesus resembled in no small way. Consider this selection from Gaius Musonius Rufus (c30-c100), arguing against the practice of infanticide or slavery for children that families could not afford to raise:

Whence do the little birds, which are much poorer than you, feed their young, the swallows and nightingales and larks and blackbirds? Homer speaks of them in these words, “Even as a bird carries to her unfledged young whatever morsels she happens to come upon, though she fares badly herself”. Do these creatures surpass man in intelligence? You certainly would not say that. In strength and endurance, then? No, still less in that respect. Well, then, do they put away food and store it up? Not at all, and yet they rear their young and find sustenance for all that are born to them. The plea of poverty, therefore, is unjustified.

Or his parable on forgiveness:

When [Lycurgus of Sparta] had been blinded in one eye by one of his fellow-citizens and had received the young man at the hands of the people to punish as he saw fit, he did not choose to do this, but trained him instead and made a good man of him, and afterward escorted him to the public theatre. And when the [Spartans] regarded him with amazement, he said: “This man I received from you an insolent and violent creature; I return him to you a reasonable man and a good citizen.”

And this is only one of the many great philosophers produced around the time of Jesus. If you find the NT so amazing, then perhaps it’s because you’ve never ventured to read good translations of the great philosophers of the ancient world.

• perfectarc says:

great response. I had an elective in college called “The Bible as Literature.” It was taught by a fairly well known biblical scholar at the time who helped us parse the ancient text into a meaningful modern translation. I don’t remember a lot of details except that it was heavily conflicted, particularly the conflicting stories jesus in the gospels of Mark, Luke and Mathew. I remember in particular the violence and infanticide …. I think it was Psalms or maybe numbers ….. and I distinctly remember there were cases of abortion brought on by violence against women who were accused of adultery, although I can’t quote chapter and verse. The bible was an interesting story to read, and certainly confirmed my departure from rabid catholicism long before the rape, assault and molestation of children was in the newspapers on what seems like a weekly basis for the last couple of decades. Thanks again for your interesting comments.

• Paul says:

You’re perfectly right about a few things. There is wisdom within the bible, and your quote from Hebrews does a nice job of defining faith. But you neglect the first part of the quote from Hebrews, “faith is being sure for what we hope for.” With faith, you can hope all you like, and still be wrong. It’s nice that you’ve found god, and you feel good about it, but for the rest of us, we can’t be happy relying on faith since hoping isn’t enough for us. Sure there could be a god and we could hope that there is, and thus have everything explained, but hope is fallible and just as easily there might not be. So we are asking for evidence for what IS out there in the universe, evidence that isn’t relying on a fallible emotion.

As for the wisdom, it is there, but it nothing in the bible is new. Sure the stories are have technically never been told before, but older civilizations (chiefly the babylonians) told some variant of the story long before. So you may want to give the credit of wisdom who those cultures who deserve it.

• John C says:

“So we are asking for evidence for what IS out there in the universe”

Your problem is that you are looking outside of yourself, the kingdom of heaven is within us. Turn your gaze inward, there is paradoxically much more to be found within than without.

• VidLord says:

Joe you quote:

“without faith it is impossible to please God”

If “God” is an omnipotent being – does it make sense to think of “pleasing” it? Would such a being be pleased, offended or get angry…..or have any human emotion whatsoever? Of course not! Anything you read that portrays “God” as having emotion is absurd!

“I have been rewarded for seeking God”

What do you mean by “rewarded”? Think about what your are saying. You’re talking about “rewards” of some kind – like winning a prize. Treasure in heaven? Completely human. Silly….just silly.

39. Joe says:

Paul, I appreciate your reasonable approach.
With faith, you can hope all you like, and still be wrong.
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

I used to be just like you, Paul. Questioning everything and it never getting me anywhere. I found that most of my questions were brought on by my own Pride then anything. Once I stopped questioning (which got me nowhere) my life changed for the better. Worshipping God instead of worshipping myself.
And this is only one of the many great philosophers produced around the time of Jesus.
vorjack, did any of your philosophers perform the miracles that Jesus performed or raise from the dead? I know, I know. You don’t buy any of that nonsense. Being a doubting Thomas gets you nowhere. Again, I was the same way. I have made the choice to believe. It is a decision. Until someone makes that decision, it is impossible to understand.

• Custador says:

Prove that Jesus performed miracles and prove that he rose from the dead. In fact, proving (to a standard acceptable in a court of law) that he even existed would be a good start.

The origins of the ressurection myth are well understood, and (like the virgin birth) well proven to have been invented hundreds of years after the events which they claim to describe. This is not being a “doubting Thomas”, it’s demanding evidence for supernatural claims. Presumably you would demand that same level of evidence for the proposition that Mohammed flew to heaven on a winged horse in 800AD and was dictated the Q’ran by Allah in person – and many people believe that particular myth as much as you believe in the ressurection of Jesus, with the same amount of evidence – none whatsoever.

• vorjack says:

vorjack, did any of your philosophers perform the miracles that Jesus performed or raise from the dead?

According to their followers, yes, they did. Apollonius of Tyana, for example, Going back a bit farther, Pythagoras seems to have done a trick where he predicted the number of fish that the fishermen would catch, similar to the story found in John 21.

Mostly the ones working miracles were mystics like Pythagoras. The philosophers like the Stoics and the Epicureans wouldn’t have seen any value in it. They were living in a time of magic, spirits and Gods of all sorts. Being able to heal the sick or walk on water just meant that you’d learned the trick. Magic had nothing to do with salvation or how one should live.

The question to ask is “how now shall we live?” Not “how shall we turn this water to wine?” That’s just a card trick.

There’s a great story from Buddhism, where Siddhartha had come upon an man who had learned to walk on water.

Siddhartha asked, “How long did it take you to master the art of walking on water?”

“Good master, I have meditated for forty years to learn this art,” replied the man.

“That’s a shame,” said Siddhartha, “I happen to know there’s a man just down stream who will ferry you across for a quarter.”

You’ve leaned how to heal the sick and raise the dead, how wonderful! But that doesn’t mean you know how to live. That’s a much harder trick to master.

• Paul says:

“Doubting Thomas” (from wikipedia): A person who refuses to believe something without direct, physical, and personal evidence.

I don’t think anyone here is questioning reality to that much of an extreme. Sure we are asking for evidence, but the evidence doesn’t have to be of a direct, physical, and personal nature; merely logical and documentable. Don’t get me wrong, first hand evidence would be awesome, it would clear up so much controversy. What we want is evidence that goes beyond a reasonable doubt, and the fact that we are having this conversation shows that it does not.

I get the impression that you were a doubting Thomas, and I think that may have been the problem. Questioning everything for the sake of questioning doesn’t necessarily solve the problems at hand. On the other hand, questioning things simply to further your own understanding or to resolve a genuine problem should get you somewhere, because you know why you are asking the questions to begin with. Also, what of your questions that were not born out of pride?

• Mark the Pilgrim says:

“Once I stopped questioning (which got me nowhere) my life changed for the better.”

Did anyone else pick this up?

• Kodie says:

Now that you’ve brought it to my attention… I take it there are two kinds of people (at least). “I don’t know” being a valid placeholder and “I don’t know” being unsatisfactory. Some ask questions and when they don’t get the answers they seek, they make a decision, as Joe did, to put some pile of wrong answers in that place and it makes them feel better and complete. I think that qualifies as a neurosis.

43. DCF says:

Your obsession with Benny Hinn is more a tribute to his worth than to your credibility. In a video that he has subsequently removed Daniel claims it is crazy that so many people follow Benny Hinn. It is not really crazy, but to members of a blog called Unreasonable Faith it may seem to be.

Benny Hinn does not demand money from people who attend his crusades. In Jakarta a few weeks ago, he filled a football stadium in the world’s most populous Muslim country. You would interpret the healings that happened as false of course. He would have to be an outstanding choreographer to have schooled the children to lie so blatantly, and he must have spent months getting the hundreds of people from around the world who gave their testimonies to prepare their falsehoods. Even assuming those healings were false, the sense of relief, and fact that each night of the 3 night crusade the crowds doubled, must point to something special happening. Especially when this happened in the midst of a strongly Muslim nation, in spite of a clergy opposed to his presence.

In Jakarta Benny Hinn honoured God, gave glory to God – not himself – for the healings that happened and if you did not wish to pay anything, you did not have to. There was no hysteria or theatrics – the crowd enjoyed praising God and they did so willingly. Benn Hinn had a collection and those who wished to give, gave.

God cannot be defined by man’s narrow experience and judging by the tone and content of some of the posts on this blog, many of you are trying to rationalise God’s work based on severely limited understanding and closed minds. Does God exist? Did the world really start as scientists desperately hypothesise – from inanimate matter? Could the infinite complexity of life have started spontaneously as a reaction between two inanimate objects? Do you really believe that faith is unreasonable?

I went to Benny Hinn’s crusade with an 8 year old child who had a brain tumour. he was discharged from a Singapore Hospital as having no chance – the specialist Oncologist said – let him spend his last days with his family. He could not walk or talk for 2 years. he is doing both today. His healing is a miracle and it happened at Benny Hinn’s crusade in Jakarta. You may doubt Benny Hinn, but that is to your own detriment. May God bless you all.

• CoffeeJedi says:

And you obsession with the man is a tribute to his skills as a slick-as-$h*t con-man and your own gullibility.

• Tabbie says:

That 8 year old child you speak of will be dead within weeks. I’d put money on it.

• Yoav says:

And when he does I’m sure that it will show up on ol’ Benny’s website like all the other cases that went into remission sometime in the vicinity of his event and had the cancer back the following month (or all the people who attended but didn’t get a miracle) since I’m sure someone that holy wouldn’t want to make any false claim of healing just so he can squeeze some more cash of the desperate and gullible.

• dami says:

Can you afford to bet? Tabbie? how far? you be mumu o. sule no.. Do you have a child or are you just a demon? I mean if you hate Benni cool, but what of this innocent child. I wish I could call you a real fool. LOL. May your generation unborn not all die before they are 8 years of age.

• Sunny Day says:

We all can afford to bet. James Randi has put up 1Million dollars to anyone who can perform a faith healing.

• dami says:

What I mean is bet your LIFE. Money is noting, Paper. Say if theres any God as Jesus, May I die a useless life in a short time. you get me. something more interesting. More fun like. And we all play fair. No tricks.

• Yoav says:

OK. If there is any god out there may he strike me down, right here and now. Happy? I’m still waiting, jesus, yahwe, allah, zeus, is there anybody there, anyone?

you still don’t get do you? Jesus prays for you according to scriptures. you get? never mind. later my guy. odabo, pele.

• trj says:

What, Jesus prays for us? That doesn’t even make sense.

• Yoav says:

dami, is this some sort of fundie code?

• Sunny Day says:

“Jesus prays for you according to scriptures. ”

Cool, an admission that Jesus isn’t god.
Thanks.

• Sunny Day says:

Not A Problem.

If a Faith Healer wins Randi’s Million dollars they get the Cash and My Life.

You’ve already wasted a chunk of your life on this mindless drivel you call religion.

• dami says:

Na, You still don’t get. May we all lose our demons. May your demons leave you alone. Guy, Jesus in not God, He is the Son of God and they exist in Oneness, The Father Son and Holy spirit = According to the scriptures. The words we speak is who we are according to The secret of attraction, in the beginning according to the Bible, God spoke the world existence. Now, The greatest minds in the world according to our standard of greatness have said there’s something out there, thought they may not believe they still know there’s a power or a force somewhere. Npw my guy, for me am out of you blog and minding my biz cos I am running from eyin boys. You guy amaze me. You know the white folk brought Christianity to Africa, yet their children are homos? LOL. I mean how can you say shit hole is fun. men! o ok . Do you know why China I becoming world power, cos they believe in buddha. Lol. where are you from, pluto or what. you guys are fun. I cant tell if you are trying to communicate and doing it poorly, or just babbling nonsense.

I’ll take it:

Dami says, you don’t get it, we all lose our demons if you lose the bet. Dami hopes you lose the bet and your demons. (It’s supposed to be a good thing). Jesus Christ isn’t god, but he is. The words we speak is who we are, don’t make bets on children out loud. even if they are going to die in a week. Proven this, the words god spoke are who he is, because he has no hands, he made the whole world by saying his thoughts out loud. The greatest minds say there is a god even if they don’t think that it’s true, they know there is a power of force anyway.

I have to log off because someone’s looking over my shoulder. You guys amaze me. You know the white people brought Christianity to Africa, but they still have a lot of AIDS so they need more Jesus. How can you say shlt hole is fun? You think Christians went to Africa for a relaxing vacation? (implying that it has to be true or they wouldn’t go). You know why China is becoming a world power? Because they believe in buddha. (sarcasm?) Have you been living under a rock? You guys are fun. Take care and god bless you. Can I say that here?

Odabo ti ti li li, it is a typical thing to say in my language which could be “bye” or something more colloquial such as “may the bluebird lay eggs upon your doghouse”. Good luck.

• DCF says:

Thank you Tabbie and CoffeeJedi, your perceptive and persuasive argument against Benny Hinn is inspiring. An interesting idea – to bet on the death of a child to prove that Benny Hinn is a fraud. Is there a limit to how far you might wander from reason towards depravity in trying to prove Benny Hinn wrong? Like I said, a free event, at which he gives entire credit for the miracles that happen to God and specifically states repeatedly that God, not himself, is the healer, and one at which Hinn preaches that hatred must provoke in any Christian love and compassion. What you find so offensive in the man is difficult to comprehend, but as he would respond himself if you were to confront him in this way – may God bless you.

• Siberia says:

Funnily, there is a dude here in Brazil who claims the exact same thing.
He’s recently bought an airplane and a TV network.
It’s a common scheme.

• Mike says:

“What you find so offensive in the man is difficult to comprehend,…”

Why? When even Christians condemn him as a fraud, why should the skeptical not?

• Tabbie says:

I give you my warm welcome, DCF, and may the universe bless you. Perhaps you’d enjoy a little star-fart or something similarly spectacular. I really don’t know what types of blessings the universe is handing out these days. It’s hard to know what to give a person who sees sanity as depravity. I assure you not a day goes by that I wouldn’t be willing to bet on the impending death of any truly terminally ill person who subsequently gets prayed for by Benny Hinn and supposedly receives divine healing for that terminal illness under Hinn’s creepy hands.

Is the death of an 8 year old child tragic? Yes, of course it is. What’s even more tragic is giving false hope to that child in the final days, weeks or months of his or her life. The depravity of it is the obscene wealth Benny Hinn rakes in at the expense of sick and desperate human beings.

• Kodie says:

Much better than I tried (then decided not to) to say it a few days ago.

Also, next time someone says “god bless you,” “jesus loves you,” or “I’ll pray for you,” etc. to me, I’m going to say, And star-farts to you as well.

• Sunny Day says:

Why won’t Benny heal amputees?

• Tabbie says:

Ooooooh I’d like to see that happen! What if the Holy Spirit granted healing in a double measure, filled to overflowing? Three-armed Betty! Woo-hoo!

• trj says:

Here’s a thought. Could it be that doctors can actually make mistakes or that they are not in possession of all the facts? What seems more likely – that the doctors are sometimes wrong, or that their diagnoses are always right but God miraculously intervenes?

I have an 85 year old aunt who by the estimates of several doctors should’ve been dead decades ago. One of them told her to her face that he’d be surprised if he saw her in half a year (the insensitive bastard). To my knowledge she’s not religious in the least and never asked God to be healed, yet she lives on. My conclusion: doctors are not infallible.

• Tabbie says:

Indeed. Doctors are not infallible.

• VidLord says:

“My conclusion: doctors are not infallible.”

well done little one. Human beings make mistakes. Go figure.

• Kodie says:

What is supposed to be a miracle is actually a human error in your favor. Seems like the better outcome than if he or she says you’re well and you drop dead in 4 months. Hopefully you would notice before then and ask for more tests or see another doctor. Of course, if you think you’re dying and you don’t, you’ve probably arranged to tie up all your business, then you don’t have someplace to live or any stuff, but you jumped out of an airplane and tried kangaroo meat and started smoking again because there was no good reason not to. I don’t know. If you don’t die when you thought you were supposed to, when/how do you find out you’re not gonna?

44. Bobby says:

So because of Adam I must now suffer! I must now suffer for something that I didn’t do! Does that make sense!? What a load of *#*#! And if I don’t choose christianity I’m going to hell. Does that sound like a merciful, kind, forgiving God!?

If my child does something terribly wrong, I will punish him. But only for that sin that he committed. I won’t punish my other children for one child’s sin! And I definitely won’t punish my child forever because I love him and want him to learn from his mistakes. So what kind of God sends His children to hell forever just because they couldn’t understand what He was trying to teach them or because they followed the wrong religion or because they were stubborn and refused to accept Him!? Aren’t our children stubborn at times? Don’t they make mistakes sometimes or all the time? Would you punish your children forever for their mistakes or sins!?

If you say God created everything then He most certainly created all the religions in this world. So why did He create so many religions!? Huh!? Did He do it on purpose…so that His children would get confused and so He can get to send them to hell!? What a load of #*#*! How the heck do you expect someone to follow such a nonsense!

Oh and another thing. Why is God so angry and jealous in the Bible!? He doesn’t need to be so angry and jealous…He is God.

All these years I listened to christians defame and degrade other religions and the people who follow these religions just because they’re not christians. Bunch of hypocrites if you ask me!

I have no time for an angry, jealous and cruel God. I want a kind, loving, forgiving God who doesn’t have to be jealous and angry. And I have found Him in the eastern religions.

Bye(“,)

45. PATRICIA says:

I have concluded by saying well even these evangelists they are also human beings they make mistakes. People let us fix our eyes unto JESUS only – Let us stop criticing anybody but let us pray for one another. Solution never idolize anyone!!! JESUS is the only way – it is therefore ones choice to choose anyway!!!!!

• Sunny Day says:

“Solution never idolize anyone!!! JESUS is the only way – it is therefore ones choice to choose anyway!!!!!”

Never idolize, except jebus, its the only way but there is a choice.

The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one.

• Michael says:

Maybe he is subtly hinting at Jesus’ nonexistence. ;)

As for his last sentence, you clearly misunderstood. He was paraphrasing Rush from Freewill: “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” See, you are choosing not to choose (and therefore being an evil atheist who will go to hell), but if you choose to choose, you must choose Jesus (even if he doesn’t exist).

46. Enid_C says:

Aw, there’s no reasoning with the faith-heads: they’re all too far gone. They’ve read one book and so now they know everything. Just hope that their god virus dies out with them as they refuse vaccinations, drink tainted holy water, lay hands instead of see real doctors, or get involved in other scams involving deposed Nigerian princes in need of their banking card number. Forget it. They’ve made up their small minds already. Count them amongst the lost, like the babbling guy with one shoe you always see at the bus terminal.

47. Its so sad to hear many of the television preachers begging for finances concerning their ministries. Even the prophets that are featured on their programs give them a positive word and ask viewers to give into their bosoms. What is happenning in Christianity now almost caused me to stop fellowshipping publically at church groups and stay at home doing what I enjoy during the week. There is so much pretense in the body of Christ today. I find it so irronicle when we consider the Mormon LDS Church a major cult, yet their presidents do not live in fancy homes and drive luxury cars. Everything they do is done quietly and before they build anything, it is already paid for. I have friends who are LDS and appreiciate their humility. I only wish that arogance and pride would leave the body of Christ and ministers would become approachable when you ask for prayer. Many who call thenselves reconized prophets take offence when their words are questioned. I make no appologies for this comment as may have been seriously wounded by these ministers.

Right now Benny Hinn is in Trinidad, yes imagine this man has the audacity to go to a third world country to steal these poor people’s money. There are also pastors who encourage this man to their country, I beg of thee, stop bringing him to your country because you to will have to answer to Christ on his second coming. “IT IS EASIER FOR A CAMEL TO PASS THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE THAN FOR A RICH MAN TO GO TO HEAVEN”

I am continually amazed how quickly humanists draw out their claws to tear down any semblance of religious thought when a subject like Benny Hinn is approached. Essentially, they patrol the internet just to say “Yeah well, all religion is a giant Benny Hinn.” Benny Hinn is certainly a fraud, but to say that all of Christianity is a farce and that he is the product of such is an irrelevant point.

Humanists are very accomplished at pulling apart ideologies, but have a very difficult time assembling another ideology in its place. Instead, most secularists move towards eastern religions for an explanation of their purpose. Ironically, the mysticism that Benny Hinn’s of home culture is the same mysticism that many humanists find solace from the cold skepticism of the West. As one commenter has stated “I have no time for an angry, jealous and cruel God. I want a kind, loving, forgiving God who doesn’t have to be jealous and angry. And I have found Him in the eastern religions.” This commenter has no need for a God that does not fit their fancy, so they reject the Christian God, and accept a friendlier, softer God that does not demand much from them.

Religion ….. is an antediluvian and frequently evil enterprise, and this Hinn parasite in particular, is among the worst, Your christianity as an exemplar is rife with testaments of evil including Hagee, the Church of Rome at large, the meth smoking adulterer Ted Haggard, etc, etc, etc.

There is no devil, there is no god, there is just us, primates who are at the pinnacle of their evolution who just cannot seem to evolve past the belief in the supernatural.

Where is your deity as televangelists like Hinn and Hagee exploit the less fortunate, less educated and often functionally illiterate fools?

I am an atheist. I have not moved towards the eastern religions. They hold no more water than Christian doctrine.

And I do not presuppose that I have a purpose, nor am I looking for one. I am simply here, living my life.

That might be the biggest load of bullcrap written from complete ignorance that has ever been posted here, and we’ve seen some doozies. Kudos, I guess :-/
