lol, i’d say this is never recommended. Though not because of the “swine flu”. In fact, last time I checked no pigs actually were sick with this particular strain. seeing as human, avian, and pig flu strains mixed in a human iirc)
Exactly. But since swine flu can be transferred between humans, it may actually be safer to kiss a pig than another human being ;-)

Pigs immunological systems are the closest of all species to ours (even closer than chimps)– that’s why we share so many viruses with them (making xenotransplantation difficult).
Sorry, could you give us some references about that assertion? Being a little scheptic about it here…
That’s true; it’s also a major cause for concern because of the transplantation of pig organs into humans (heart valves etc). There’s a worry that pig deseases might evolve to attack humans. The process is called “zootropism”.
I know there is a possibility to transplantate modified pig organs into humans -or better, to grew “human” organs into pigs- but that’s due to the similar size of those organs. Chimps have little organs, compared to ours. Also, using apes may be unethic for lots of people.
I also know that both inmunological systems are close, but are that close? More than chimps? I also remember that apes are kinda habitual vectors for some diseases… so, LRA and Custador, do you have any reference to support that statement?
Forget swine flu. E-coli infection is waaay more likely to happen here.
