The Bible has a test for who is a “real” prophet and who is a “false” prophet — real ones can tell the future, and false ones can’t:
You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the Lord has not spoken?” 22If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it. (Deut 18:20-21)
And what should be done with those false prophets? The answer happens to be in the verse right before the verse I just quoted:
Any prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, or who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded the prophet to speak—that prophet shall die. (Deut 18:20; see also Deut 13:1-5 where false prophets are commanded to be executed)
So it’s only appropriate that Benny Hinn is a false prophet, even according to his own holy book, and should be killed:
In 1990, Pastor Benny Hinn prophesized on TBN: “The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid ‘90s, about ’94 to ’95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. [The audience applauded.] But He will not destroy it with what many minds have thought [He would use], He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed.” (William Lobdell, Losing My Religion, p. 192)
But … but … but … don’t you realize, the “destruction” of the “homosexual community” in the U.S., which said would happen “with fire,” was merely metaphorical? They’re already “dead,” you see, they just don’t realize it yet … which is why, even now, they’re “fighting back” by aggressively pursuing their nefarious “homosexual agenda,” pushing gay marriage, etc.
Or else the “destruction” of the U.S. “homosexual community” has, in fact, already happened on God’s own cosmic calendar … it merely has yet to “manifest” itself in the present, in our own — vile and deficient — earthly calendar?
Or perhaps the “destruction” of the U.S. “homosexual community” has already occurred, but in some symbolic way — say, in the deaths of perhaps a few prominent gays that happened in 1994 or 1995?
There are so many ways that believers in an omnipotent being could wring some sort of truthiness out of Hinn’s “prophecy,” that none of his mindless sheep would ever be able to concede that his prediction has utterly failed. This is, of course, one of the fatal flaws inherent in belief in a transcendent, omnipotent being: You can say pretty much anything you want about him, no matter how inane or outlandish it may be, and still claim to be correct; you can pretend to speak for him in pretty much any way you want, and likewise still claim to be correct. Such a being is your basic “irrefutable hypothesis” about which everything might be said, but nothing ever known with certainty.
This is easily explained. You see, around 1990 God was all set to destroy the filthy homos with fire. He decided he’d just wait 4-5 years in order to give them a chance to repent their wicked ways. Which a lot of them apparently did – or maybe it was due to all the kind Christians praying for them – so God in his infinite wisdom and mercy changed his mind.
If you look at the Old Testament (and Benny Hinn’s God is very Old Testament), God changes his mind all the time. At first he’s all “I’m gonna smite you good!”, but then he’s all “Nah, not really”.
Benny Hinn couldn’t possibly have known back then that God would later change his mind. Why, that would require some kind of omniscience!

Its so funny how Christians can still feel so persecuted while they spew hate rhetoric to any group outside of its own group.

This false prophecy argument can be applied to hundreds upon hundreds of popular televangelists and religious authors.
None of Jesus’ prophesies have come true, look what happened to him.
Perhaps that’s not a cross on Hinn’s left breast – maybe it’s a target…

Are you seriously expecting the audience to remember what this guy said 60 sermons ago?
Even if they recall his prediction, I’m sure they don’t care that it didn’t come true. They just like hearing someone say their hatred is morally justified. I suppose it helps them feel like they aren’t the scum that the rest of us believe them to be.

Sounds like an open and shut case to me.
We do have a thing for scented candles, now that I think about it…doom by our own hands? Maybe.
