I was thinking about the distant future when I watched Venomfangx’s latest apology.
I was imagining some digital anthropologist collecting scraps of code to assemble bits of lost video from the early 2000 BCE period, the dawn of the digital age. Carefully piecing together the claims of Venom, the rebuttals of DPR and Thunderf00t, and all the other actors who played their bit in this sad play.
I could almost hear the anthropologist trying to push his ‘Youtube’ argument into modern text books. He was trying to get them to accept his theory that the burgeoning ‘New Atheist’ movement was born of the digital revolution, and how it greatly influenced the direction humanity would take in the coming centuries. But those damnable ‘Blog Theorists’ would laugh, oh they would laugh. They claimed that the videos were just a side show, that it was the bloggers that moved humanity past the dark ages of religious faith. But he knew. He knew it was the fall of one man. He knew the day VenomfangX admitted his faults, the great cracks in faiths edifice sundered to its foundation and that its fall was imminent.
Ahhhh, satire. My language.
“Not that fundamentalists care about the truth…. Just CAPS.”
