What is that thing on the atheist’s head? If it’s a hat, I’m at a loss as to what type it might be. Maybe it’s a bag of ice after being clobbered by the other two. Drinking Guinness or Yoo-Hoo?
Having seen a 5.56mm round take off a huge chunk of a man’s quadrucep (and it was a ricochet, by the way), plus having at least three friends who have actually *been* shot, I’m gonna go ahead and say I could pretty much tolerate anything other than getting shot.
Where did you see that if you mind me asking? Not to deflect from the conversation Custador, but what do you work as? I remember you once said something about the NHS, or knowing a friend who works there. Did you serve in the forces also?
Sorry, just piqued my interest!
In response to Jordan, you’re an idiot. Expressing an alternative viewpoint (that’s most likely correct) can never be worse than dealing with an religious zealot, let alone getting shot by one.
I’m a student nurse; I have a lot of friends in the military and I saw a GSW occur on a range (accidental shooting due to ricochet) when I used to shoot for a hobby.
One patronizing question pops immediately into my militant mind:
If this is the case, then why are you here, instead of preaching the Gospel on a street corner in Kabul or shouting the Shahada at a KKK cross burning?
Yes, I hear ya….people who are calm, rational, and not superstitious are so hard to deal with, aren’t they? Give me an insane, inflamed religious zealot any ol’ day….
I actually just had a rather long Facebook argument about this very topic. It all started because someone claimed that radical atheism is just as dangerous as radical religion. I have the whole thing on my blog. It’s a rather fun read, check it out.
Well technically, the analog of Islamism would be Christianitism, since Muslim is to Christian as Islam is to Christianity. I prefer the generic term Religionism/ist.
I recently argued about the use of the term “militant atheist” in the current environment of suicide bombings and police-murdering militias.
The theist I was commenting to immediately conceded that I was correct, retracted his use of the term, and said he wouldn’t use it again.
I was amazed that for once, I actually managed to make a small difference in someone’s mindset. A great encouragement.
I hope the atheist in this pic has a computer at his desk. One of the rules before you become an atheist is that you agree to join and actively participate in Unreasonable Faith or similar blogs. (I don’t MAKE the rules….)
Actually, I think “militant atheism” would be communism (which is state-instituted atheism) and was responsible for the death of 100,000,000+ people in the 20th century. No one expects cartoon artists to have a firm grasp of history though. ;)
-Which was the logical and inevitable result of an atheistic-based power structure. I could also mention euthanasia, abortion, and eugenics as the (once again) logical and inevitable result of a naturalistic philosophy, which is (by definition) an anti-supernatural worldview (i.e. theistic).
Well then, you’ll have to actually convince me that euthanasia and abortion are morally abject practices. It’s not a logical and inevitable result of an atheistic-based power structure, it’s just that in the amount of times it has been instituted (can be counted on one hand), that’s what has happened. It was about a taste of power, not a taste of atheism. Power appeals to human beings, not just religionists or non-religionists.

I think it’s a beret.
it’s a cheesecutter.
The good old Yorkshire flat-cap :-)
Wasn’t this posted up before?
This cartoonist must have been inspired by Hemant Mehta’s excellent statement.
“Radical Muslims fly planes into buildings. Radical Christians kill abortion doctors. Radical atheists write books.”
Wow, that’s so….TRUE.
I’d much rather be shot by a religious zealot than have to endure the patronizing rants of a militant atheist.
The bullshit of an idiot who’s never seen a gunshot wound.
Ja. Besides, I’m sure WHERE he gets shot might change his opinion.

Hyperbole escapes you?
“I’d much rather be shot by a religious zealot than have to endure the patronizing rants of a militant atheist.”
I hope you realize you are insulting yourself instead of “Militant Atheists”.
Anybody got a gun?

Then why the fu*k are you on this site instead of running around of Kabul holding a cartoon of mohamed.
heh heh
Pls don’t make suicidal decision because of this humor post.
I thought it was kinda funny. But then I have a weird sense of humor (so I’m told).

I love that!

Technically, the analog of Islamism and Christianism is secularism, not atheism, but I like the comic.

That guy on the right. Really scary.

Do Blag Hag, Pharyngula, or Filipino Freethinkers count?

Except that wasn’t Communism, it was totalitarianism.
