They want to scare the hell out of you… literally.

I participated in shit like that when I was a Christian — it was very manipulative and pathetic.

  1. Custador says:

Christians are like children: They have an innate inability to take responsibility for their own actions, and the built-in excuse of “The devil made me do it”. It really ticks me off that people like that try to claim moral superiority.

    • JohnMWhite says:

I know you are but what am I?

    • dutchhobbit says:

That is true. What I saw in the school scene was also the rejection of reality that Christians have. I saw that something like that could happen in real life and that there was a voice saying he should commit suicide but that this was due to a mental disorder. I can see how Christians that this person holds dear would tell him that the voice is a demon who possesses you and that you should not listen to it instead of going to a doctor to help this person overcome his mental disorder and get a prescription medication to help him.

  2. Gordon says:

Why is the audience not laughing?

    • nazani14 says:

In the drunk dad scene, I get the feeling that some of the audience have seen domestic violence before.

  3. Personal failure says:

Pft. Someone needs to publish Debauchery for Dummies, because that is barely sinful, let alone debauched.

  4. Billy says:

This is dark but oddly funny……. I don’t know it seems kind of ridiculous, the people doing a lot of this stuff almost always claim to be Christian, especially in America where 75% of the people are Christians, those are some pretty bad odds against them in these cases.

  5. michael says:

Some people go to amusement parks….you know, with roller coasters that scare you to death. Christians go to freek parks to scare the “demons” out of those dumb enough to attend. They prey on the youth and the weak of mind, offering them a “solution” to “everyday” problems. You know the kind: sex, drugs, alchohol….in other words, any of the weaknesses that people feel GUILTY for. Once sucked in they are told there are demons behind every corner and lurking in the dark shadows. Notice how the entire “play” was done in the dark….that’s when the “devil” comes out to play! There is a church in our city that offers “barf buckets” to those who wish to cast out(barf up) demons. What kind of salvation is it when you are “saved” but still plagued by “demons”?
The scene with the kid with the gun sort of bothered me as it is a “God-given-American” right to own a gun to protect yourselves(I’m Canadian….we don’t have the same weird law). Once sucked in they can influence the gullible into believing that if they don’t follow “Jesus”, they go to HELL! Demons and hell, it would seem that’s all they talk about….clearly devil worshippers! Question now is how much money(“the root of all evil”) did this coven earn for this delightful play? What really scares me is that one day, one or more of these fools may end up ruling the nation or the world!

    • aerie says:

“What kind of salvation is it when you are “saved” but still plagued by “demons”?”

For real. Excellent question. I’m sure the answer would be some excuse regarding “free will” as that’s their answer to anything they can’t explain or don’t understand themselves.

      • michael says:

They believe in salvation but still believe that demon’s can plague you. No christian would ever admit that they can’t sin, so therefore Satan can still tempt them and make them do “bad” things. My born-again Aunt told me one day that she could tell me to screw off(f*ck off), ask forgiveness from Jesus, go to heaven and I would go to hell! How convenient. I don’t suppose she’d possibly admit being under the influence of Satan…would she? NO WAY! So, sometimes the devil does things and sometimes it’s god…..personally I wish she and the rest of the fundies would go on meds, then we could all sleep better!

  6. Eruesso says:

The Hell House documentary is a must see. Better yet go to one yourself, there’s nothing like watching the real thing. It’s a complete train wreak.

  7. michael says:

It is sort of funny to watch….sort of! It’s a liitle like listening to the lyrics of “Amazing Grace” sung to the music of “Gilligan’s Island”……great fun. I hate “Amazing Grace”! They should make this a reality show, they could call it the “Dweebs Show(how stupid they are)”!

  8. mirroreyes says:

Hell House as done by community theatre. Davey and Goliath was scarier.

  9. Puck says:

The guy in the beginning with the blood make up was kinda hot. Also AIDS doesn’t kill people, secondary infections on weakened immune systems do. It was pretty fucked up though, things blown up and taken way out of context. Also you notice how it the pretty girl who got saved not the its not a choice lifestyle homo

  10. DDM says:

Constant torture and everlasting pain sounds like a sweet deal if you’re a masochist.

  11. Tee says:

    What is this I don’t even…..

    The hospital/homosexual/abortion pill skit? Seriously?

And the guy at the end who said this is not scare tactics? I would hate to see what he thinks scare tactics is…

  12. Tyrrlin says:

The guy at the end claims it wasn’t scare tactics? Sheesh. If it *wasn’t* scare tactics, it *was* a clear attempt to bully their audience into praying with them and “converting” them. And people *paid* to get in? Wow.

    Brainwashing at its most pathetic.

  13. Andy says:

I love that they say it’s not scare tactics. It’s basically the same thing when they say “It’s not a religion but a relationship with Jebus”. They know people dislike religion, they know people dislike scare tactics. So just keep doing what you’re doing but insist that it’s not that bad thing that people don’t like.

  14. Unladenswallow says:

I had heard about Hell House a few years ago since it is done not to far from where I live. I didn’t think much of it at the time as it seemed like another lame Christian attempt to demonize Halloween. I just watched this movie a few months ago and it really pissed me off.

This is how they get the rabid converts that are unable to use critical thinking and rational thought as adults. By scaring the shit out of little kids so they will never entertain the thought that maybe the world works in a far different way than the way these Christards portray it.

Child abuse as religion. I guess the Catholic Church isn’t the only one that does it.

Has anyone ever thought of doing a Bible House that shows all of the horrible fictional things that are in the Bible? They could also do one called Christian House and show all the horrible real things done by Christians over the centuries because of the Bible.

    It could run all year.

  15. Eruesso says:

@Unladenswallow- A humorous idea but that would only be stooping to their level. It wouldn’t resolve much either except bolster their view of how unbelievers negatively respond to the gospel. What the Hell House documentary does an exceptional job at is reveal their view of reality and their ignorance of the real world. They don’t view it as scare tactics because they believe that there are powerful forces battling over the souls of mortals. What is scary is their failure to reach out compassionately to their fellow man. They would rather see the various “sinful” characters in the skits in Hell for not repenting than reach out a loving and helping hand. This is what scared me when I visited a Hell House.

    • Unladenswallow says:

Yeah it was a bit of a rhetorical statement anyway, but hatefulness, arrogance and stupidity of any kind just pisses me off.

  16. michael says:

Hey…people…don’t forget…THEY MADE MONEY! Heaven and hell aren’t free or cheap. Why do you think the PTL Club was named so….”Pass the Loot”/”Perpetuate the Lies”…..Praise the Load(of money)!
