Gee.. when exactly was this golden age of pureness in politics and the reign of common sense?

  2. NoYourGod says:

Yerp – nuthin’ saiz “patriotic” like “love it or leave it”!

  3. Tyler! says:

Sooooo who exactly are they taking our country back from??? And i am in the process of moving so help packing would be nice!

    • nazani14 says:

I have asked several people who fancy themselves Tea Partiers exactly that, and they’re very cagey with their answers. All these durn furiners, I reckon. And the clear majority of Americans who voted for Obama. And all the people under 30 with their ecology nonsense and their Pocky.

  4. GeekGirlSTL says:

They want their country music back? Fine with me, it’s theirs.

  5. khal82 says:

I would have to clarify to these eloquent “folks” that their representatives were bought and paid for a loooooong time ago, and that Constitution which I doubt they have read and which they want abided by allows “alls us folks to stay here AND speak our minds, lawdy mercy! Ain’t nobody gotta go nowhere, ‘ceptin them godless heathens, I expect.”

  6. DDM says:

I’m ashamed I share a common nationality with ass-backwards hicks.

    • Custador says:

I’m ashamed I share a genome with them…. Admitedly mine probably has a tad more genetic diversity when compared to, say, the rest of the town I live in…

  7. MrCheese says:

I’m glad they’re taking back their country. I’m just confused which country they were talking about. It can’t be the United States, because common sense and fairness say the genocide of the natives was immoral and if the land ‘belonged’ to anyone, it would be them and as khal82 said, they aren’t talking about the US constitution.

  8. WarbVIII says:

Yeah, what deluded SOB’s they are,I do think that the do want the constitution ‘restored’ as one sign in the video said though, ya know the old document with only 10 ammentments, that allowed slavery(and made slave 3/5th of a person),and allowed for any natives to also be slaves, and pretty much considered anyone who was not 100% white, male, and a landowner to have little or no rights. Though I do like them offering to help us pack, but since they are far from the majority how about we turn it around and help them pack?

  9. chuck says:

    lolz… teabag cameltoe @ 0:59

  10. Dorid says:

… waiting for the Native American version of this one to come out.

  11. ironflange says:

MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP

  12. Clyde says:

Yup, they’re takin back their country…just as soon as they can find a set of jumper cables and get that tractor mobilized!

  13. Custador says:

They gots themselves both kindsa music – Country and Western!

  14. L.Long says:

They just want a Xtian version of iran here. You know how good it is over there.
Thankfully our diversity will prevent this from happening. Well as long as the various groups don’t get along!

  15. bigjohn756 says:

    “…in a country that is free…”
Until these narrow-minded bigots get a hold of it, that is.

  16. marf says:

Ummm, the song doesn’t really say much, you know. It doesn’t name any specific things other than politicians and that “taking back our country” mantra cuts both ways (weren’t we supposed to help Rush Limbaugh pack?). The signs in the background are virtually unreadable (must be genuine). I’m not sure what she’s gettin’ at, actually. Whatever it is hardly justifies the invective I see pouring out.

  17. koyote_ken says:

Wait, What?? Taking it back from who? Do these deluded dolts think that voting republican in Nov will get them “their” country back? Don’t they realize that ALL Senators, INCLUDING the republican ones are bought and paid for by corporations? And do they know that the Republican SC has now made it possible for corporations to spend UNLIMITED amounts of money to get their “boys” re-elected? Are these people that ignorant? If these idiots somehow manage to Sarah the Stupid elected in 2012, then I WILL NEED THEIR HELP PACKING…….

  18. Nelly says:

taking their country back from that uppity non-citizen that’s a’livin in that white house

    I’m with ironflange……….make it stop

    please

    • Yoav says:

And just in case he manage to get away with being a foreign Kenyan the Iowa GOP is calling for the reintroduction of the original 13th amendment , which they think will allow stripping Obama’s citizenship for accepting the Nobel prize.

  19. Tabbie says:

Songs like this don’t do anything to help inspire a sense of national unity and brotherhood. It’s just more of that tired old “Us vs. Them” mentality. It’s certainly not my idea of democracy.

  20. Steve Kind says:

Made me think of this for the first time in years.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_URVOQGvb0&NR=1

Seems to me that, while the detail is specifically North American, the sentiment is universal & very relevant at this time when the USA christian right are taking back “their” (?!) country and in the UK the EDL are chanting “You’re not English any more”. (How f*****g DARE they!)

    • Steve Kind says:

Sorry – Shouldn’t ask people to click on links without telling them what its is – title song from “Soldier Blue” by Buffy Saint-Marie – includes the first few minutes of the film because that’s how it’s presented on YouTube

  21. Peter Cross says:

Tractor, cattle, other farm scenery – I’d be willing to wager that the folks who run that farm receive government subsidies.

    Parasites.

  22. Peter Cross says:

    Hopscotch on sidewalks,
    Kites in the air.
    Family drives on Sunday,
    Blue ribbons at state fair.
Those are things of days gone by..
    .”

Uh – those things are not allowed any more? WTF?

  23. Daniel C Brewer says:

Teabagger is a pretty offensive term. A lot of homosexuals do teabagging, so it could easily be interpreted as homophobic. Heterosexual couples do teabagging as well, and I don’t think its fair to use a sex act as a hateful term.

Finally, its just immature. If you disagree with someone’s political views, that’s fine, and its perfectly acceptable to bring up the objections you have and criticize their thought styles, but do we really need to result to namecalling? Especially with something that could be interpreted as a homophobic slur?

    • Yoav says:

You are aware of the fact that the term was first used to describe people involved in tea party events by the teabaggers themselves.

      • Kodie says:

They didn’t call themselves cocksu*kers, which why is this construed as a homophobic slur again? It sucks balls, that’s what it does!

    • Jabster says:

      @Daniel C Brewer

… oh do shut up you boring little person; don’t you have anything better to do in your life?

      • Daniel C Brewer says:

Fuck you. I see hateful remarks based on political ideology, I’m going to point it out. If you don’t like that, that’s fine. I’m not a tool. I don’t base my actions on whether or not some random guy thinks I’m boring.

        • Ty says:

          “Finally, its just immature.”

          “Fuck you. ”

Thanks for bringing maturity to the debate.

          • Daniel C Brewer says:

Yes. There is nothing immature about profanity. There IS something immature about homophobic names for a political ideology.

            • Elemenope says:

Well, then, you best tell them they picked a homophobic name for themselves right quick!

            • Daniel says:

What’s that supposed to mean? They call themselves the Tea Party. Its a pretty obnoxious name; the original tea party consisted of rebels tossing overtaxed tea out into the water. The modern “tea party” consists of of 10% legitimate fears of oversized government mixed with 90% conspiracy, paranoia, and dogma.

Don’t bullshit me. I know Goddamn well they didn’t choose the name teabaggers. Some supporter of the tea party might not have known what the term meant and said “I’m a proud teabagger!” which would have been funny, is hardly an official statement.

Look, I don’t agree with the tea party. I SUPPORT socialized healthcare. I don’t agree with a lot of people about a lot of things, but I’ve never denied someone respect based on their beliefs-no matter how ridiculous, or foolish, or even evil I interpreted them to be. I respect skinheads as much as I respect members of the NAACP.

How can you support freedom of speech and religion if you spew scorn and hatred upon people for their beliefs?

How can you expect your friends and peers to discuss their beliefs with you if you hate certain members of ideologies? If one of your friends sympathizes with the tea party, they won’t discuss it with you, for fear of repercussion.

That’s what I believe. That’s why I go to so much trouble to explain that to people, not just here, but everywhere.

            • Elemenope says:

How can you support freedom of speech and religion if you spew scorn and hatred upon people for their beliefs?

Er, that is part of what those freedoms entail. People are free to believe or say what they wish, and other people are free to mock them for it. You can’t have one half of the freedom without the other.

But that’s not what is going on here. What actually happened was a bunch of history-challenged populists took to calling themselves the tea party, and not knowing any better, called themselves as individuals “teabaggers”, not knowing that it was also the name of a sex act. Once this was pointed out, they were dismayed and peadaled back from the name. It’s just some ribbing for folks who are painfully bereft of pop culture knowledge picking a stupid name for themselves.

You are taking this a bit seriously and are remarkably offended on their behalf.

            • Ty says:

“Fuck you” as a rebuttal is about the speed of a dim 12 year old.

The only thing it’s useful for is picking a fight, and since there is literally no chance of an actual fight occurring, it just makes you look like a wanker.

            • Daniel says:

Which is why I included a more fleshed out rebuttal below it.

Maybe you didn’t see what I responded to. The person was commanding me to shut up and spend my time else where.

I think “fuck you” was a very appropriate rebuttal.

Funny that you criticize my maturity, while slipping in that little sting at the end, comparing me to a “dim 12 year old”. Then again, you’re defending the use of teabagger. You’re behavior is quite predictable; you can’t debate unless you get to insult people.

            • Ty says:

Now who’s deciding what other people think for them? Please quote the place where I defended the use of ‘teabagger’.

You’re behavior is quite predictable, you can’t debate unless you get to make up the other side’s argument for them.

        • Jabster says:

          @Daniel C Brewer

boo bloody hoo … I see that you don’t have anything better to do in your life

“I’m not a tool” … I think you’ll find that if you put that to a vote you may be on the losing side.

Oh and why we’re here … “I see hateful remarks based on political ideology,…” so care to point out my political ideology?

Now just pee off and take your rants to somewhere that cares …. alll the best Jabster

          • Daniel says:

““I’m not a tool” … I think you’ll find that if you put that to a vote you may be on the losing side.”

That’s the whole point. I WON’T put it to a vote. You don’t get to vote on my life.

I don’t have any reason to play guessing games with your political ideology. Maybe you misunderstood. You are attacking people based on their political ideology by using the word “teabagger” to describe them.

You’ve really got a sense of entitlement buddy.

“Now just pee off and take your rants to somewhere that cares” ”

That’s more of you thinking you have a right to dictate how I spend my time, and you also somehow get to speak for this entire website community, saying “somewhere that cares”.

“I see that you don’t have anything better to do in your life”
Additionally, I will decide whether or not something is worth investing my time in. I do not need your help in the matter, nor do I want it.

Finally, I don’t see why you’re being so inflammatory. It really seems like you’re trying to get me angry. Do you think I will insult you, and thus be banned? That won’t happen, rules or no rules. I won’t sink to your level of hatred.

          • Jabster says:

“That’s the whole point. I WON’T put it to a vote. You don’t get to vote on my life.”

To late for that … the votes have been counted and I’m afraid that you lost rather badly. I would like to cheer you up and say that you did get two votes in your favour but it turns out that one of those was caused by someone panicking and pressing the wrong button and the other thought the vote was for a different Daniel.

“I don’t have any reason to play guessing games with your political ideology.”

That’s good as with your level of intelligence we could be here for a long time waiting for you to work it out.

“Additionally, I will decide whether or not something is worth investing my time in.”

Considering what your time is worth I’m finding if difficult to think of anything that it wouldn’t be worth investing in.

“Finally, I don’t see why you’re being so inflammatory. It really seems like you’re trying to get me angry.”

You seem to be quiet capable of getting angry without my help.

“Do you think I will insult you, and thus be banned? That won’t happen, rules or no rules. I won’t sink to your level of hatred.”

“… level of hatred” – why don’t you just compare me to a Nazi and be done with it?

            • Sunny Day says:

EH, another one that mistakes our entertainment for anger?

            • Jabster says:

I can see how a blog is not the right format for conveying tone … but angry is wrong; the most I get to is a sort of bewilderment at what some people can post.

p.s. I was going to mention concerned troll but I didn’t want to upset Elem so I’m thinking of just making gross generalisations about Americans instead!

    • Bender says:

Teabagger is a pretty offensive term. A lot of homosexuals do teabagging, so it could easily be interpreted as homophobic.

In that case the ones who should be offended are gays, for being compared to those morons.

    • CoffeeJedi says:

Actually I don’t like it because tea-bagging isn’t really a sex act. It’s more along the lines of something immature douchebags do to their passed-out drunk friends. And the one doing the ‘bagging is the slightly more sober one, so he “wins” I guess you could say.

      • Jasowah says:

I was kind of wondering this too. I never really thought it was something that was popular to do in the bedroom.

@Dan – Your statement of “A lot of homosexuals do teabagging”, has got to be something you guessed at. I’m not really sure how to ask you how you know that without it sounding like an insult.
