Albert Einstein Said What?

I think Rep. Frank Nicely would have a hard time proving that Albert Einstein said this

“I think that if there’s one thing that everyone in this room could agree on, that would be that Albert Einstein was a critical thinker. He was a scientist. I think that we probably could agree that Albert Einstein was smarter than any of our science teachers in our high schools or colleges. And Albert Einstein said that a little knowledge would turn your head toward atheism, while a broader knowledge would turn your head toward Christianity.”

(Update: This is a duplicate. Sorry!)

  1. Ty says:

Francis Bacon actually wrote that about three centuries before Einstein was born.

    Close, but no cigar!

  2. Again says:

    This was on April 16th.

  3. contrararian says:

Another liar for God. What a surprise.

  4. Custador says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who accidentally repeats other people’s posts :-p

  5. Tim says:

Wasn’t Einstein a Jew. Why would he promote Christianity

    • AVlCENNA says:

Guilt for being responsible for killing Jesus?

Sigh, I finally sat down to watch The Passion. Is Mel Gibson high? How does making a movie about an anti-semitic play not get you smacked in the face.

      • Michael says:

Because his movie is only marginally more anti-semitic than the Gospel of Matthew.

That guy was seriously not a fan of the Pharisees.

    • Reginald Selkirk says:

Not only a Jew, but a secular Jew.

  6. So I will repeat my comment then. :)

“For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions.” – A. Einstein

  7. Thegoodman says:

I sent an email to Rep. Niceley a few days ago about this. I am sure he will read it as diligently as he read the quote book he pulled out of his ass.

  8. Reginald Selkirk says:

    Welcome back, Daniel.

  9. eyesWIDEopen says:

Since I live in Arizona, I’m going to assume he just forgot to follow Jon Kyl’s advice and add “Not Intended to be a Factual Statement” after saying it. After all that’s how our politicians get away with lying.

  10. Tim Rasmuss says:

I was also sent a story of how Einstein, when in college, was asked if he was a Christian by a professor. He said ‘yes’ and was ridiculed by the professor. He successfully trounced his atheist professor using logic. I told the friend who sent it to me Einstein would never say he was a Christian since he was Jewish. The person who sent me the story then said “that’s not the point.” What was the point?? You make up a story and get mad when someone callls you on the facts?? Some logic!!

    • Yoav says:

Your friend was probably thinking of the famous Chick tract and just inserting Einstein in, thinking it will make him sound smarter.
