Cindy Jacobs seems to be talking about “spirit mapping” here, the NAR practice of finding areas that have become tainted with demonic energies and praying them away. She’s talking about the areas that have become tainted by the murderous, blood-thirsty natives that used to live in Texas.
You can make your own Texas jokes here. It’s way too easy. What I don’t get is where she gets the idea that the Native American tribes in the area were cannibals.
Regardless, she thinks that Rick Perry’s big prayer festival cleaned the taint, and “the land is starting to rejoice.” I suppose by erupting in sustained forest fires. Actually, I suspect she’s not thinking about those.
From Christian Nightmares, and I think it’s a good example of the idea of “spirit mapping.” Thanks to Right Wing Watch for catching it.
The land is starting to rejoice? Srsly?
Can you say “total disconnect with reality”, boys and girls?
Since when a side nuisance such as this “reality” thing has ever stopped True Believers?
We need to pay attention just before Halloween to see what advice she comes up with.
Am i the only one who think she’s played too much Ghosts Master?
Evil blood sacrifices? You mean like the evil Abraham, Issac, Jacob…
There is also a group who hold a belief in being purified by the spilled blood of a savior demigod, who symbolically drink his blood during their rituals and are in general obsessed with blood, can’t remember their name…just on the tip of my tongue… begins with a C…
Catheists?!
Uh . . .
Hmmmm…
I always assumed that “the taint” was best cleaned with soap and a washcloth. But hey, she’s a woman, so I will defer to her on this one.
-10 for misogyny
No misogyny, “woman” is 100meters’ codeword for “brain-dead sexless zombie fundamentalist”.
She really thinks she is living in an episode of supernatural, doesn;t she
1st, love your site. I am a very frequent visitor.
2nd, regarding the claims of cannibalism:
I just finished reading Empire of the Summer Moon by S. C. Gwynne.
It’s the story of the Comanches, particularly a half white, half Indian chief named Quanah Parker.
The book deals mostly with the time frame from 1840 to 1880 and the westward push of settlers.
Quoting from page 211:
“In 1862, one hundred Tonkawas were killed in a single attack, part of a wave of such incidents that nearly resulted in their extermination. This was ostensibly because of their cannibalism, which the other tribes deplored, but it was more likely because they had long served the Texans as scouts in their anti-Indian expeditions”.
3rd, this historical claim doesn’t make Miss Cindy less crazy or her religion less dangerous.
Dennis
“their cannibalism, which the other tribes deplored,”
I looked at several sources, all of which stated that the claims of Tonkawa cannibalism came from **other tribes**. So, until I see an eyewitness report from an explorer, I’m going to suspect this is slander based on tribal rivalry. Pretty smart to get the white-eyes to get rid of your enemies.
The coastal tribes of Texas, particularly the Karankawa, are believed to be cannibals in local legend. However Cabeza de Vaca spent a lot of time with them and the Karankawa were shocked to hear that the Spaniards had eaten some of the shipwreck victims.
In any case, is God really so unjust that he allows spirits to haunt lands and affect people from an entirely different culture who didn’t do anything that caused those supposed spirits to haunt the land. A just god would allow people to be affected only by what they themselves did.
What gets me is that she speaks so highly of Rick Perry for helping get rid of this bloody taint (sit on that image a bit, lol) when, as mentioned in the recent Tea Party/Republican debate, Perry had over 200 executions in the form of capital punishment under his governance. But of course the people he’s had killed *deserved* to die, so its different. Or something.
I guess his taint’s special or ok in someway.
Now I’ll stop.
“Perry had over 200 executions in the form of capital punishment under his governance. But of course the people he’s had killed *deserved* to die, so its different. Or something.” Even those who were innocent of the crime they were convicted of…they must have done something, or Gawd wouldn’t have allowed it.. :->
I’m so ashamed to be of the same species as that nutjob.
