   OK, as much as I dislike the Pope (any Pope,) I have to say that saying he’s bad because he was in the Hitler Jugend just totally ignores what this group actually did, and how they were strongly encouraged to join. Did he personally persecute Jews? Bad. Did he personally go help with agricultural work because so many men were at war? Good. It really is asking a lot of a 12-year old to oppose the Nazi party and every other institution in Germany.
