This is just… terrible parodying terrible.
I love how they say “official parody video” — whatever that means.
One of our regular readers here is Joseph Denney, who is a musician recording under the name “Spirit Spine.” He has produced a new album titled Glossolalia, which he has dedicated to James Randi. According to his press release:
The album follows the story of a preacher traveling by airplane who crashes into the desert, leaving him the only survivor. As a result, the preacher must wander the desert in search of food, water, and civilization. Along the way he questions the religion that brought him there and the God who may, or may not, exist.
You can sample Glossolalia at Spirit Spine’s Bandcamp page or his Soundcloud page. I’m horrible at labeling music genres (everything I grew up with was classified as “folk,” which is not helpful) so I’ll let Joseph describe his own work:
Glossolalia wraps the listener in a heat-warped haze of bending guitars, hypnotic drumming and chant-like vocals that draws on influences like Grouper, My Bloody Valentine, Boards of Canada, Bruce Springsteen’s “Nebraska”, and the Smithsonian Anthology of American Folk Music.
Christian Music has a new name to fear, and it is E.C.H.O.E.S. of Praise! That’s an acronym for Exalting Christ High Over Every Situation.
Here’s their theme song:
And here’s their Easter song and dance number, “I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb”
Both are from Scott Bailey, so blame him. Go over there and mock his new blog theme.
Tim Minchin’s “Storm” has long been a favorite of mine, and now there’s an official animation to go along with it. Even if you’re already heard it before, it’s worth watching again:
