The camp fires are burning, nature is calling, and if you are like me you are already knee deep in camping gear`and festival finery and you can’t really imagine it any other way. One of the most exciting things about being a Pagan these days is that we get to attend Pagan events and festivals. This year is full of interesting gatherings to take part in, and I hope even the most solitary of Pagans will take advantage of these festivities.

Are You Sirius?

I just returned from Sirius Rising at Brushwood Folklore Center, an event I have participated in since it’s very beginnings 21 years ago. This year was full of excitement and intrigue, a few new surprises and many old friends. The event featured workshops from notables such as : Bellavia, Michelle Behr, Diana Paxson, Eli Sheva, Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Don and Daniella Waterhawk, Joy Wedmedyk, Billy Woods, Jason Winslade and myself to name a few. In addition to my workshops I hosted a beautiful ancestor ritual where we gave honor and thanks to those who came before. Much love and blessings to all who made it possible. I also got the opportunity to begin an Oshun garden on the property there at Brushwood. I hope it will survive the test of time, and the upstate New York winter, standing as a symbol of the blessings and love to come. The event has snce it’s beginnings been known for it’s amazing music. This year we heard from Cu Dubh, Mouths of Babes, and my dear friends the Dragon Ritual Drummers who rocked out as always!

Those looking for a smaller more intimate event, or just something new, should consider attending Sankofa, the festival held just before Sirius Rising also at Brushwood Folklore center. It’s early days yet, but they still have a wide variety of workshops by myself and others.  This year they featured an amazing concert by Ginger Doss featuring selections from her new album Hippie Pocket. Here is a clip of her appearing at 2012 Sirius Rising.

A Hex Upon You !

Those lucky enough to have tickets to the sold out event Hexfest in New Orleans will get to see me again this summer. A weekend of witchery from August 21-3 in the Historic French Quarter. Quite honestly, I can’t wait for this to happen, in addition to my workshop on Foods of Love, I will be participating in a panel discussion on Ritual Possession with Brian Cain, Steven Bragg, Bloody Mary, Christopher Penzak, and Sandra Mariah Wright… who knows what might turn up. The weekend will be full of rituals, classes, a concert by the Dragon Ritual Drummers and a whole lot more.

Going Down the Road !

Not sure where else my event calendar will have me land this season, but if your see me on the road give me a smile or a shout out ! If you would like to see me at your event or gathering, please tell your festival organizers and contact me at voodoouniverse@yahoo.com

Happy Travels!
