Easter Chantey (reprise)

Easter Chantey (reprise) April 16, 2017

I first posted this ditty  6 years ago, shortly after I joined Vox Nova; now that we have a new audience, I want to share it with you.  I wrote it when the kids were little and today, my son (who is 24!) asked me to sing this in the car on the way to Church.  It is sung to the tune of “What do you do with a drunken sailor?”.  Enjoy!  He is Risen!

(Chorus)

Hooray! Up he rises!
Hooray, up he rises,
Early Easter morning.

Where is he now, the lamb of God?
Where is he now, the lamb of God?
Where is he now, the lamb of God>
Early Easter morning

Out of the grave and to his Father,
Out of the grave and to his Father,
Out of the grave and to his Father,
Early Easter morning.

Chorus

Where is thy sting, o bitter death? x 3
Early Easter morning.

Broken and cast onto the ground x 3
Early Easter morning.

Chorus

Why do you sing, you sons of Adam? x 3
Early Easter morning.

Crushed and burned the yoke of Satan x 3
Early Easter morning

Chorus

What is your joy, o ancient prophets? x 3
Early Easter morning.

We have seen the branch of Jesse x 3
Early Easter morning.

Chorus
