KAMPALA

The bill reached this level of attention back in May, 2011 but time ran out before the bill was debated. There is now plenty of time for this bill to come to the floor prior to the planned December 15 recess.

They’re going to bail out a steel mill? Commies!

What a ‘to-do’! Should go down like a lead balloon in M7′s talks with devt. partners!

UG budget crisis ahead? Oh dear …

  • Diogenes Arktos

Given some of the scientific illiterates in Congress who serve on science committees, I hate to think what #5 would be like in Uganda.

US travel ban slapped on Kadaga, so one is hearing: http://www.firstpost.com/topic/person/barack-obama-usa-slaps-travel-ban-on-speaker-kadaga-over-anti-gay-bill-video-635nm6BasmI-298-1.html

(Another report I’ve heard suggests that she can come, but ‘at her own risk’; the US Government will not provide any security for her.)

Miss Kadaga was apparently planning to nip off to Atlanta, fresh from her ‘blood bathing’ …

But also there’s Tash in that film clip. He seems to be saying the ‘full discussion’ could be reopened on the Bill.

    We like discussion!

Of course, if an Anti-INFIDELITY Bill were ever introduced, its sponsor would probably NOT be David Bahati!!!

  • Richard Willmer

As of now, no Order Paper has been put on the UG Parliament website today.

  • Richard Willmer

    Still no Order Paper.

    Khaos in Kampala?

  • Richard Willmer

    Order Paper just appeared.

‘Kill the Gays’ Bill is still under Notice of Business to Follow.

  • Richard Willmer

Apparently Tash’s report is now ready; apparently it confirms life imprisonment for consensual relations (one off – with hanging for more than once?).

Meanwhile David Bahati has decided against introducing an Anti-INFIDELITY Bill. He was worried he might get ‘all tangled up’ in its Clause 3 (“Aggravated Infidelity”).

(UG Parliament website down just now, by the way.)

  • Richard Willmer

Website back up. No Order Paper there yet.

  • Richard Willmer

UG Parliament website again experiencing problems, it seems.

Here’s the latest in the press: http://news.iafrica.com/worldnews/828953.html

    (This story is repeated elsewhere.)

There’s a possible ‘sliver lining’ in this very dark cloud: if the Bill were voted through, a period of time would begin when it is ‘passed’, but not ‘law’ (the President must sign it for that), but the guilty MPs will have ‘exposed their hands’. That could provide ‘interesting’ opportunities for the next phase of the campaign against hatred, violence and murder.
