With David Barton as Principal Officer, Non-Profit Mercury One Gave $100k to Barton’s Wallbuilders

Sometime in 2013, Mercury One, a non-profit founded by Glenn Beck but run by principal officer David Barton, gave $100,000 to Barton's Wallbuilders, also a non-profit run by Barton. Such gifts appear to be questionable under IRS guidelines addressing gifts which benefit insiders.Barton founded and is head of Wallbuilders, and was recently tapped to run the Keep the Promise group of Super PACs with over $38 million to spend supporting Ted Cruz.On Mercury One's 2013 990 form, Barton is … [Read more...]

Glenn Beck Does Double Take as David Barton Says Third Great Awakening Has Started

According to David Barton, the Third Great Awakening has started. At Glenn Beck's website, we learn that Beck and Barton talked after Glenn Beck's Restoring Unity Rally on Saturday about the GA3. GLENN: I think this is — I think we’re at the beginning. I flew back with David Barton yesterday. And David said, just matter-of-factly, he said, we’re in the awakening. And I said, I leaned up and I said, hold on. What did you just say. And he said, we’re in the awakening. And I said, the third grea … [Read more...]

David Barton Says Founders Took Bill of Rights from Genesis. What If They Did?

David Barton has lately started sounding like the Institute on the Constitution. Michael Peroutka tells people that the American view is based on the Declaration of Independence and proves that "The American View" of government is that there is a God, the God of the Bible, our rights come from Him, and the purpose of civil government is to secure our rights. Barton promoted those points on Glenn Beck's show recently and added that the Bill of Rights came from Genesis 1-8. Watch (from Right … [Read more...]

Why the Aitken Bible Story is So Important to Glenn Beck and David Barton

Reinventing the Aitken Bible story is very important to Glenn Beck and David Barton. America as a covenant nation is important for different reasons for both men and the myth of Congress printing the Bible fits right in to their world view. However, as has been shown many times, the story is not what they make it out to be.In his recent talk to Fellowship Church, Glenn Beck began his false narrative about Aitken's Bible by shouting, "Don't let anybody tell you we are not a Christian nation … [Read more...]

Previously, I have commented on his false account of the Aitken Bible story and his theological statement  that America is a covenant nation. Raoul Wallenberg is one of my heroes. He was a Sw … [Read more...]

Glenn Beck and David Barton: More Evidence Congress Did Not Print the Aitken Bible

Aitken Ad Imprint

Both Glenn Beck and David Barton have said in public presentations that Congress printed the first English Bible in America (Aitken Bible). Most recently, Beck told Fellowship Church in Fort Worth TX that the first thing Congress did after we won the war for independence was to print a Bible.Barton has recently backed off slightly from that claim that Congress printed the Bible, acknowledging that Aitken printed it but still falsely portraying Congress as endorsing the Bible for use in … [Read more...]

Message to Glenn Beck and Fellowship Church: Congress Didn’t Print the Aitken Bible

In addition to faulty theology, there are several glaring historical errors in Glenn Beck's talk to Fellowship Church on July 5. Sadly, the audience is less knowledgeable now than before he spoke. Here is one example.Glenn Beck told Fellowship Church that the first thing Congress did after the United States won the Revolutionary War was to print a Bible in English. Watch:Transcript: Don't let anybody tell you we are not a Christian nation because we absolutely are a Christian … [Read more...]
