Four Gemstone Moon Waters to Work With in your Practice

Moon water is probably one of the most made and used magical water in paganism, witchcraft and the magical community today. I thought it would be fun to share some Moon Water Recipes and what to use them for.

Moon waters can be used for a variety of things depending on when they were made and the ritual or spell you are using them for. These waters are great as a base for Sacred Waters that can be used in ritual, to anoint candles and spell bags, to asperge (to sprinkle) and sain (to bless), as well as in floor washed and magical sprays. If you work with a water spirit or deity you may choose to place water on the Altar and these would be appropriate as water offerings, if that is what your practice requires.

The most popular type is probably Full Moon Water. No doubt you have probably made one by setting a dish of water out under the light of the full moon. This is pretty common and can be made once a month during the apex of the moon cycle. I am extra, I have always been and there is really nothing I can do about it, so naturally my waters aren’t just basic. They are filled with extra!

Witches love their rocks or crystals and are intimately connected to the moon. These formulas below are fun, easy and can be made and stored for future use. I personally like to make about 6 months of Moon Water at one time. Then store it in the cupboard till I need it. Even if I estimate too little there is always the promise of the correct moon cycle around the corner and more can be made.

The type of water you select as a base is up to you. Rain water from a midnight shower might be the perfect base for a Dark Moon Water while River Water collected during a full moon would be the perfect base for the Full Moon Water below! Pay attention to the type of water you select as it will effect things such as drinkability, energy and be sure to align it with the type of water you are making.
