Does Everyone Experience Unity?

As I interact with so many more people every day now, I started to wonder if there are people who go through an entire lifetime without experiencing the serene awe of the universe.

I don’t mean to cast judgements and I can’t know people’s life experience from seeing them in a grocery store check out line, but it really seems like some people have a very narrow and dark perspective. Even when I’m mired in the mundane details of life or upset over something in the play, I find that I’m never that far from a bigger perspective. I’m almost always able to take that step back and feel the vast universe flowing on regardless of these little frustrations.

There are times when I am floored by immense joy. Usually through spiritual exercises. Everyone must experience that at least once in their life, right?

I imagine its what athletes must feel in “the flow.” Perhaps it is what new parents feel when they see their child for the first time.

I really hope that everyone gets to experience it sometimes. I really hope that those who are sad and grumpy in my checkout line have their moments of staggering bliss too.
