How To Help Nepal

How To Help Nepal May 4, 2015

I’ve been wanting to talk about the disaster in Nepal but I’m sorry to say that I’ve been very overwhelmed by the tragedy unfolding a few miles from my home and it has been difficult to focus on anything beyond Baltimore.

There isn’t much to say about the terrible earthquake. Unfortunately there are those who think that what that is to say is that God is punishing people for not believing in Jesus. I have been shocked to see some very credist tweets from evangelical Christians basically saying that the mostly-Hindu Nepal deserved this. It makes me sick to even type that out. (funny how when a tragedy strikes a Christian area it’s suddenly not about God’s punishment at all). There are some woefully cruel people in this world but I am trying to focus on all those who are eager to help.

I was glad to discover this post on charities within Nepal that could use donations. I’d much rather donate to local charities in that area than large American organizations.
