Religious People Have Fun Too

Religious People Have Fun Too May 25, 2015

Sometimes it feels weird to wear my bindi when I’m doing really not very religious things. As you know, I wear my bindi at all times as an outward symbol of my faith and I’ve been practicing not removing it for convenience or to fit in somewhere better because I don’t believe that it is right that I can pass for non-Hindu if it seems useful.

And most aspects of my life are part of my religion. Being at work is a religious experience because I have the chance to practice seeing God in everyone I interact with, for example.

But then there’s things like gaming. I love computer and video gaming and I felt a little odd wandering around GameStop wearing my bindi. I realized that I think of these things as different parts of my life that don’t have much relation to each other. Then I started to wonder why I see them as separate. I am a religious person and that is the core of me no matter what I’m doing in life. Even when I’m shopping for video games, I’m still a religious Hindu at the same time.
