Ram Das is an American Hindu (born in the Boston area, just like me!) who I think is most famous for the book Be Here Now. My Experience with Sathya Sai Baba Group

Brad and I went to check out the Sathya Sai Baba group at the interfaith center on Saturday.There was a special event going on for Mother's day with the teenage groups doing a presentation. We were a little late getting there (it was quite a busy weekend!), so we slipped in and got the second half of the boy's presentation about recycling, reusing, and the protection of the environment. Meet a Guru: Sai Baba

I can't recall how or where I first heard of Sai Baba. I don't know much at all about him or his teachings (yet). I'm going to do some research today so we can both learn about him. I know I have at least heard of him before. I wasn't sure where to start in introducing some of the gurus, teachers, and schools of Hinduism.
