Paganism and Comics
As some of you may know I supplement my income by working part-time at a local comic book store. Every Wednesday is “new comic day” and I always keep an eye out for Pagan themes in comics. Well today I found a nice one in the form of “Wild Girl” a six-issue limited series put out by Wildstorm.
Enter the world of Rosa Torez, a 13-year-old girl whose normal life with her mom and baby brother is shattered when an alarming incident forces her to make a life-changing decision! When Rosa discovers that she can communicate with animals, her world is turned upside down. Now she must figure out whom she can really trust, as animals and humans try to dictate what her role in this newfound life should be ? because a wrong decision could destroy her family!
In the book there is a striking spread where the horned god bestows his blessings on Rosa Torez.

Here is the text from that page:
“We are the untamed and unbroken”
“We are the wilderness”
“We are Cernunnos”
“We are the hunter and the hunted”
“We are the pack, the herd, the hive”
“We are Tapio”
“We are come from calf and cub”
“We are…one.”
“We are Chullachaqui”
“We are pupil and sage”
“We are tooth and claw”
“We are Pan”
“We are beginning our journey once more”
“We are met with allies at winter’s birth”
“We are Herne”
Needless to say, if you are interested in such things look for it at your nearest comic shop.
